    Content Management Systems

I did my search here and am familiar with the previous threads on the topic. I was just wondering if there was anything new/different out there?

I was particularly interested in the strengths/weaknesses of programs like SiteDepth and Awiz.

I bought Site Depth and instantly outgrew it.

    Things to consider:

-Initial set up requires php knowledge. I had to hire a programmer.
-Rotating banners option is very primitive. For $40, a product called Php Ads does a much better job.
-2257 feature is a joke. If you rely on it, you will not be compliant.
-As with every other CMS, all your photos and videos will need to be re-processed and re-entered into the CMS.
-Support has been pretty good, but it's a small company, and this product is a sideline business. Do not expect the kind of knowledge base you'd get from a big software corporation. At one point, they even customized something just for me, so that shows me they have good intentions, at least.

It's going to take a lot of customization by a programmer, so you might as well have the programmer start with a free open source product and customize it.

Guys from Site Depth have started posting here at GWW, so I hope they respond. I DON'T feel ripped off, but I did have higher expectations.

what do you need your cms to do? awiz is pretty simple but it would work to update any standard paysite or reality paysite and the programmers do customizations for a very reasonable price. our needs were pretty simple, though - to update the video page listings, the pic pages listings and the main member page and it did that with no problems.

It will be overkill for a small site but if you want something high end take a look at the Elevated X cms

What do you guys think about UpdateM? I haven't seen much on any boards about it, as it seems to be a bit older.. but I just got a copy of it, and playing around it looks like with some modifications, it could really be a decent program to have. Does anyone else use this?

I do need some fhg's but not sure I want to call them fhg's after looking around at what most people use. I think its a good idea to spread around some of this promo work with my main designers and some other “new” guys so am open to talk
