what do you consider high quality video?

i'm a quality freak. when sites have 3 speeds and one is called something like "super duper extra ultra high quality" and it's only 768k, i'm disappointed. and at 500k, i'm annoyed. imo you can't take 768k or less to full screen at 768x1024 and have it look high quality. there are tiny pixels moving in the background and the edges aren't sharp. that's why i love HD or stuff like at videobox where a lot of their videos are 2000k+ and look it.

1000k is pushing it for full screen, although 1100k looks pretty good usually at 640x480 - particularly if it's well lit. the higher quality the lighting, the lower bitrate you can get away with - again, imo. i tried our high videos at 1200k and it just didn't look as good as the video we ended up with, which is 1599k.

what about you? when you're watching a porn movie - not when it's your site and you're paying for bandwidth - at what bitrate do YOU consider a high quality video? or if you don't know bitrates, how clear and sharp does video have to be before you consider it high quality?

I consider anything 640x480@768k for .wmv's and above as 'high-quality'. That is definitely at the low end of the scale. I typically do our videos 720x540@1024k which I think is more than I usually see on other sites.

We offer RealMedia 480x360@768k which I actually think looks about as good as our 720x540 .wmv's. And they even look good when you resize the window to double-size.

Lol, I guess. Just yesterday I found an email with a free $25 viewing coupon from Maleflixxx. I rented one scene and was immediately bored of the whole idea of watching porn. The scene was hot and quality was quite good but I just couldn't bear the idea of investing any time in watching it.

I guess I'm not much of a porn consumer anymore. But I like to think I can tell when something looks good.

sorenson batch encodes in a large array of different formats. you can take one video and create 3 sizes in 3 formats of that video by setting up one job and walking away.

not necessarily talking porn - i'm simply talking video quality. some people seem to think the two are different but imo if vid quality isn't good enough to watch a feature film and enjoy it fully, it's not high quality.

Ok. We are going through the "what size should all our videos be" right now getting ready to launch our first paysite.

And with this sorenson, can you edit video in it? Or do you import edited video into it and then batch render the videos?

sorenson is an encoder, not an editor. if you don't have any extreme needs, vegas rocks and rolls and takes names.

i actually started man of muscle using their trial - it doesn't do mpgs but i didn't need mpgs. full 30 days and i was certainly more than happy enough to buy it after i had used it.
