We've just started up a new blog called Gay Blog Dump, located at http://www.gayblogdump.com/

It's a blog dump for all of the gay community, not just adult. Anyone who operates a gay blog can dump their blog their and become a featured listing which should increase your traffic back to your blog.

We have 34 different categories. If you find that we've missed one, just let me know and we'll get it added. Of course, any comments you have to make it better and get more traffic to your blog will be greatly appreciated.

Well, it says that those doing a link back will be featured, so I assumed that if we don't want to put up one of those graphics, you can still add a link. However, when I tried to add a site, it came back saying I hadn't filled in where the recip link url was located.

Dump site submissions usually don't require a link back -- it's optional, and you may have people balk at adding a graphic, especially on a blog where links are usually added using the blogroll feature.

Yes, Bec. The requirement to become a featured blog on GayBlogDump.com is to place one of our graphics on your blog. If you don't want to do that, and you are correct, many bloggers may not, you can still place a link in your blogroll and we are in the process of setting up a blogroll on GayBlogDump.com and that is where we will place a link back to your blog.

We designed this blog so that it can grow fast and we can feature different sites on an ongoing basis hoping to drive lots of traffic to your blog thru the use of the Featured Site listing which will be in the center of the front page, unless it is adult, and then it will be in the center of the adult page. It will have a banner and a write up about your blog.

Hope this makes sense to you. If you go to http://www.blogdumps.com/ you will see what it will look like after we get a few links, banners and featured sites.

We will feature sites based on when they submit and place our graphic on their site AND based on the traffic they are sending over to us. So, the more traffic we receive, the more often you will be a featured site and the more traffic will be sent back to you as users see your featured spot.

I 'get' the entire premise of the site. What I'm saying is if someone doesn't want a "featured" listing ... your submission form isn't allowing someone to submit a site without putting in recip link url information... or is this dumpsite only accepting a dump if there's a link back?

Yes, we do require a link exchange. You certainly don't need to post our graphic, and don't need to be features, but we will only allow sites to dump provided they at least link back with a text link to back to us.

To help answer the questions we expect to receive...and we acutally used your questions to me, we have added a FAQ area at http://www.gayblogdump.com/faq.htm

Yes, text links are acceptable. You can add a text link anywhere on your site. However, we look for links manually before adding your site to a category or featured page. Text links are more difficult for us to find and your site may not get featured if we can't easily find our link on your site.

Please fill in the URL of where the Gay Blog Dump graphic link or text link is located on your site. All feilds must be completed on the submission form or your site will not be added.


Why isn't my link on the Permanent link dump?
If your link no longer appears in the permanent link dump, it is because you have either been moved to the category you requested when you filled out the link dump form or because the automated reciprocal link searcher did not find our link on your site.

Your link is on my site, why won't the Blog submission find it?
If you placed the link in a Blog-roll obtained from another site like blogrolling.com, the automated reciprocal link spider won't find it because the link is actually on another site. Try placing the link on your actual page (in the header, side bar, or footer)


When I filled out the permanent link submission, I requested to be in (category) but I don't see my link there. Where is it?
Please allow 36-48 hours after submitting your site on the permanent link dump to be included in the category you chose. All links are checked manually before being added to a category or featured page.

Link list, directory, or even portal are terms that apply to a site taking permanent links and showing them in categories, and usually asking for a link back. These are usually managed by something like a Gossamer Thread script or phpLinkDirectory script for instance.

A LINK DUMP is different. Here's an example of a link dump Adult Matrix ... you can submit a link, and usually it appears immediately, and a recip link is optional. There's rarely an option to "categorize" the link submitted. Eventually, the link you submit moves further down the list and will disappear as others are submitted, as the table is set to show a certain link total. It's a way to gain a free temporary inbound link and short term traffic. Scripts for dumplinks might be like the Plug a Thug or phpLinkDropper

This is a directory of link dumps: it's not a link dump itself, but a listing of other sites that are: LinkDumps

Hopefully that will clear up why I was confused by the Dump part of the new site name you have built.
