just received a letter from our child protection guys stating that variou images on my site do hinder kids in their mental and body development.

The first pic they consider pornography becouse it is not clear if he has a boner or nor - I agree, my mistake.

The other pics are considered harmfull for the minors mental and bodyly development (like soap-operas and talk shows *grin*). So I either replace them showing LESS flesh or use ICRA labels in my metatags of every page on my domain.

I do the latter since it's the easiest way to go and still be able to show some flesh.

jugendschutz translates to child protection and jugendschutz.net is an organization foundet by our youth-ministers of our states in germany which is like a first level helpdesk for all child/youth related stuff happening on the internet so that those poor fellows don't get drawn into something nasty like racism, radicalism, nazi-ism, porn-ism...

It is backed by the KJM (commison for protection of youth in media) and foundet after the JMStV (youth media state trety) was put into power. So this makes jugendschutz.net (JS.net) somewhat of an official administrative organ.

So the reason for them sending me a letter was that

a) I am spreading porn (link 1) which is not allowed under penalty here in Germany if you are not VERY certain that you are adressing a closed group of users, which we MUST ensure by using Face2Face Age Verification Systems (I get to that). The pic shows a dick where it is unclear if it is soft or erected.

b) I am spreading harmful material (link 2,3,4). The sexual activity is visible eventhough nothin is fully seen.

Face2Face AVS here literally means that you have to be verified and validated that you are actually you.
The programs do this by sending you a sheet of paper which you have to get filled out and approved by an accredited institution (usualla the post office is the most common here, but banks, notatires, lawyers would work fine). They check your name on the paper, the name in your passport, put a stamp beneith it. Then you send that sheet to the sponsor, they then give you a personal PIN and password (some give our USB dongles together with software). There also is an electronic form of F2F but it still is a pain in the ass to get a "wanking pass" (I don't own one)

Thats the theory. Practically the sponsor programs moved to the netherlands and many many surfers surf foreign sites. Germany is the only state in the world which has (to my knowledge) such a mandatory F2F Age Verification System.

It isnt that Germans are more restrictive in their porn, its that they are more proficient in defining who can, who cant, and who should be held liable for viewing online porn.

I would love to see a system like the alterscontrol system used in Germany make its way in to the US as it really would cut down the amount of crap rules and regulations the government tries to pass, unfortunately, itll never happen

People having to walk in to a gov building to pass age-verification.. to easy.

you know what i found interesting is that they contacted you, DEVELISH. seems like they're trying. here the options are ignore a site or prosecute, and a lot of times one leaves the problem in place and the other is gross overkill. your guys worked with you on issues that concerned them so you could fix them.

Xstr8guy - any adult in germany can see adult material. they simply have a way to really PROVE everyone who works within their system is truly an adult. their system probably had a pretty bumpy start, though... imagine being registered through the government to see porn

but to make one thing clear: it is not the govt that you need to register with, they just put in that law. You register with companies like x-check.de, ueber18.de, control2000.de, check2go - we have a bunch of them.
