If a sponsor doesnt convert ...

I have a sponsor (actually a couple) that ive tried to sell and the ratios are piss poor. Ive thought long and hard and made the decision that its not worth my time doing more promo for them when i could be doing promo for higher converting sponsors. What do i do about the money i earned if i didnt reach the minimum payout?

Its only $20 here or there but its my money. Is it right for them to hold that (i know they can! should they?). Would you forget about that money or build more until you hit the payout? I just think its better to move on but i want the money as its mine.

Id say drop them (even if its Condom Cash LOL) you can always merge your accounts if the sponsor uses CCBill so you can choose another CCBill based sponsor and hit payout through your account that way.

I drop sponsors all the time and after 3-6 months ill give them another try, it might not be that the sites arent converting across the board, it could just be that your traffic at the time is more interested in another niche.

I had a guy a few weeks back ask me why he wasnt converting on Geisha Guys as well as his other sponsors, when i asked him where he was getting the traffic from, and what other sponsors he was promoting, it became evident that the site he chose wasnt the 'sensible' one to choose.. All his traffic and other sponsors were/was jock and straight boy orientated.

If its a PPS sponsor that handles their own payments, you should email them and explain that you want to close your account out and can they send you whatever is owed to you. Some will do that, some wont, depends on the sponsor.

Bottom line is this, you are doing this to make money, if a sponsor isnt converting for you, swap them out for a few months then give them another try.

    Regards,

    Lee

No its not Condom Cash! I think the traffic is pretty much ok, i mean its avs which does very well for me and its twink feeders using there content sent to the twink site. Maybe i could ask them to review the sites i build though.

Would you keep sending the traffic then?

I know was just saying, no matter who it is, drop them for a couple of months and try someone else, preferably a sponsor you havent used yet that you want to but just havent gotten around to trying.

As i say, i do that all the time when someone doesnt convert and you might be suprised when you try the new program out

Would you keep sending the traffic then?
You would be suprised the amount of people that will continue to send traffic out of some kind of 'friendship' or whatever, bottom line for me is that if a sponsor doesnt convert, they get dropped i dont care who owns or operates the program, there are a couple of sites on Condom Cash right now that im not promoting because my traffics tastes have shifted from a few months back. That isnt to say in a few months time i wont try promoting those sites again, it just means right now i needed to change what i was selling

    Regards,

    Lee

if you have traffic that makes money on some sponsors and you keep sending it to a sponsor where it doesn't make money - well, you're losing money. i wouldn't worry about $20 if you may be losing hundreds with the same traffic.

on the other hand, perhaps you can change the advertising inside your avs sites. sometimes a change in advertising can bring a lot more sales.

The other thing is... if it's a reputable sponsor and they aren't converting for you, and you send them an email explaining, I'm sure they would send you a check for the sales you've made. It's definitely not fair for the sponsor to hold on to money for an affiliate who has tried, but for whatever reason, hasn't been able to do well with the sponsor's program.

I hear you on that one! I learny recently that changing even banner ads can get surfers clicking again.

I havent asked them for the money. I should do really. If they say no that within their rights i guess. Im guessing the terms say they can withhold. It says they will only pay when i reach $100.

I totally agree, walk away from it and focus your efforts on a sponsor that converts better for you.

I say promote the sponsor sites that sell well and deemphasize the ones that don't sell. I use a "more gay pay sites" page for any last-chance sites that I choose not to drop completely.

    /\ /\ /\ /\

If it's a CCBill sponsor, merge your accounts so you're not stuck with those issues.

But as Chip said, it can't hurt to establish a dialogue with the sponsor if you don't have one already and ask if they can send you the check for what you are owed.
