What is the difference in WM referral stats between 'sales' and 'clicks' ?

I see numbers in both columns but i cant quite figure out exactly what those numbers represent overall.

Hey Lee,
Sales: The sales sent by webmaster who are referred under you
Clicks: The amount of clicks to your 'referral link'
Signups: Webmasters that signup under your referral link
Closure Rate: The conversion of Clicks:Signups
Total: The amount of referral $ you've made based on Sales
