I currently have a active account with 2 hosting companies, and about to start transferring files on to my third account Monday. I was just wondering do most of you guys have multiply hosting accounts, and how many is too many? As my bandwidth usage goes up, I find myself shopping around for the transfer rate I need, and a price than makes me unafraid of the bandwidth I am going to use. 5000+ Gigs a month for starters :smoke:

NO I just need to be prepared too, I am going to be hosting many different types of promotional items. Really 5T is not so much I am sure many people burn 10 times that amount, thats just a starting point right now. I would think in a few years if not sooner I might need 50T a month just to keep up.
I could burn 3-5+Terabytes a month just listing video feeders. Not sure I will take it that far, but burning bandwith is not that hard to do.

Not really, and that’s like 3 times as much as I use now, but need room to grow. I am sure these hosted videos are going to burn a huge amount of bandwidth. I am about to finish a update to my main members site this week, and not to talk crap but once the affiliate program is open I am sure most people will be happy with the numbers.Originally Posted by pierrefitch
5 TB is not a lot of traffic, its about 20Mbps. This is quite common for any one doing MGP galleries or even anyone with a successful paysite that doesn't rely on plugins for their videos.
Max, if you are tired of testing and trialing and want to be hooked up with a good quality hosting company that will give you the support, speed & uptime you need to succeed, and will keep you happy for years to come....then give me a shout

Ya man that’s what I am saying the 5t is not that much, its just a start. I don’t submit any FHG right now, or video previews that’s why I don’t use that much now, but like I said one way or another this is going to change really soon. I plan to amp up my bandwidth usage over the next year or so and 50T would not shock me at all.
This is why I have so many hosts right now I would really like to have 2 main hosts, but need to find once that will do what I really need them too. That is stable and fast/above average speed, with a price where the 50T I might run up will not cost me a fortune. :crybaby:
I don’t know if I am ready to play with any more hosts right now, and even for my main members site .10 a gig is about the max I can go now days on lets say a T at a time. (really the .10 a gig even for my main site is a bit much) Not sure about your pricing, but we can talk I guess
I think some people that have never seen my site might have a wrong impression Yes I pay the best 3 feed companies, and offer Live feeds, but in NO way is this the only content I offer Not by a long shot. I guess in a few weeks I am going to have to start handing out a few more free passes, but want to get some structural improvements made first. :construction:

i recently reviewed max's site. it had more self-hosted videos than i see in 2 year old sites and some 3 and 4 year old sites. some of the videos are lower quality than others, but listed so they don't come up first. he also has some hosted pic sets, although not as many as videos.
btw, beside the pluginfeeds plugins, i maintain that feedsnow is the best feeds around because you can make them look self-hosted and because you can select which videos to show your members.
Thax Bass, I am going to offer some more passes just have to get a few things done first.
I am going to have to check out feedsnow too, but teen-frat content is all I can use right now. They look like they focus on Hunk content mostly, but I will talk to them for sure.
This all got me thinking about something, can I host the same domain on two separate hosts. Possibly host a subdomain with another company or some other way of doing this with out a totally new domain? :morning:
Doubtful since you have to give DNS information on the host for each domain, so how could you list two different DNS on the domain record?

I just did not want to put these new MGP galleries on the same server as the main site. I do have some very similar URL’s I can use for the MGP, if I have to go that way I will but one of my hosting reps said hes going to talk to some people about anyway to do this with sub domains and a few other ideas he had.
Sounds like it will not happen, but it was worth a shot I guess :fucked:

Ya for sure they could split the domain up on separate servers with any one company I pick, but ideally it would have been nice to have to separate companies hosting different aspects of the site. Just not sure how much these MGP’s are going to drag down this host or that host.you can do just about anything you want with a good quality host
I may have to have to play, and expand some of these agreements I have now with hosts to make sure the MGP’s load fast, but my main site should never even have a bit of additional drag during all this.
