    And the winner is?

    Best Picture Predictions Anyone?

I am thinking the Departed will win, but I want Letters from Iwo Jima to win. I have seen all of the nominess this year, and think that is the one that was most Oscar worthy. Babel a close second.

I am with you Lee, I have not seen any of these films nor would I want too. Not sure why 95% of the Best Pictures always have to be a drama best suited for the Lifetime Channel, but in general they are uninteresting films that are soon forgotten. :toff:

Well than what type of films would you rather see nominated?

What about ET, that has to be one of the best movies of the 20th century, but did it win NO. Can you remember the movie that did win that year?

    I voted for departed

    I saw departed and babel.

On USA national public radio, I heard the voice of the writer of QUEEN saying he would not accept the award, it written as an anti-monarchy film.

Does anyone really think Gandhi is a better movie than ET? Gandhi is a ok movie I guess, really never seen it myself but sounds kind of boring like all the movies that win best picture just about. Its almost like they try to find them least entertain films they can, or their taste in film is so elitist its out of touch with the viewing public. No wonder people in general could care less who wins anymore, I only cared last year about Broke Back Mountain, but that film lost too.

I am kind of a big fan of Steven Spielberg's early films, and Jaws has to be in the to 5 films ever made, did it win best film NO. Seems if you want to make your film entertaining in the least bit, they see you as pandering to viewers, and your skipped over :hmm:

    So the point is?

"I HATE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM! PICKLE ICE CREAM IS BEST!"

    "have you tried Chocolate?"

"No! I have only ever had Pickle and It's the best of all!"

How could you not like ET more than Gandhi, I admit I did see part of Gandhi at some point but think I fell asleep or changed the channel to watch something with a heartbeat. Even to this day every time I watch ET it makes me cry, and I do not cry watching movies EVER. Just talking about it made me watch it again today
