If it's from Ray at Strongbox, it's probably really good.

anything that you do to slow down, inhibit or throttle membership site bandwidth will very very very likely result in chargebacks. This may be an excellent solution for a free site, but I would stay away from it for a paysite members area.

    cheers,
    Luke

I agree, i cant see this adding to the bottom line of any paysite, if anything, like you mentioned i can see it taking fro profits in terms of chargebacks and cancellations.

Ive always been of the belief that if you have memebers using up to much bandwidth you are doing something seriously wrong in the members area or you have bigger problems such as password sharing going on.

    Regards,

    Lee

I totally agree, strongbox is the best script for membership password protection available. And I think this new one, if used in the right circumstances, will be extremely valuable too!

    cheers,
    Luke

This might be stepping into the area of a new thread...but does CCBill check for password trading or is that up to the individual webmaster? How does one know if you are the victim of password trading?
TropixxxCash.com is a CCBill affiliate program for the male spanking and punishment site TropixxxVIP.com.

    Usually by your bandwidth bill

CCBill doesn't check and wouldn't have any way of checking because they don't have access to monitor traffic logs on your server. If your site has been advertised at all, it's a near certainty that you've got some password trading going on.

We used Pennywise for a long time, but when we switched to PHP-based member authentication, that wasn't an option because it isn't supported. So we switched to something pretty low-end that our programmer built into our CMS. We're eventually going to get Strongbox working, but last time Ray tried, it completely broke our members area so we decided to wait till we really have some time to look at it and get it working correctly.

no ccbill has no way of checking for password trading, after all the userid/password is stored on your server and the login is local to your site, so ccbill doesn't have any way of collecting those type of stats even. You need to get strongbox or pennywize or watch your logs very very carefully!

    cheers,
    Luke
