    Basschick!!!

Okay, I got a nasty cold and spent the past few days trying to deal with it. I'm feeling incredibly shitty today which means I should be feeling better by Monday. At any rate, I finally got around to watching Clerks 2, one of the funniest fucking movies I've seen in ages. I totally rekindled my love affair with Kevin Smith's movies and I got the DVD to check out the extras and was then drawn to his website to delve even deeper. So while I was checking things out I ended up on his message board and there, before my very eyes, was a guy who's online screen name was...

    Bassguy.

I think I've found your soulmate.

Wow. I thought Clerks II was kind of weak. I mean ... was that a MUSICAL number I saw in there? Seemed like the main goal was to try to out-do the gross sexual act (the necro bathroom scene) of the first Clerks. And since they used racial jokes to substitute clever dialogue. Just all seemed pretty forced.

if you look at it like that, i'm sure it was weak. but that's not how i perceived it, so i had a great time.

and i really liked the musical number - it's very unexpectedness and unualness within the view askew-iverse had me laughing till tears poured down my face.

My favorite Kevin Smith movie will probably always be Dogma.

I've been a Kevin Smith fan for years but I was totally dragging my heels on Clerks II. When I finally sat down to watch it I almost pee'd myself. I thought it was funny as hell. It totally renewed my love for Smith's work. I'm gonna have to get that on DVD as well as Clerks X.

I HATED Dogma. It was smug and self-important and masturbatory. As far as I'm concerned, Kevin Smith's best (and gayest) work so far has been Chasing Amy. I haven't seen Clerks 2 yet, but I have it on my Netflix queue.

That's mainly WHY I liked it. It was so over the top and simplistic in it's views of Christianity and Catholicism that, combined with the portions that were MEANT to be funny, it was a great hilarious ride.
