The Problem With DVD Studios Launching 'Porn Sites' Is..

That a lot of them simply dont seem to understand the differences between the offline and online world, in fact, several companies i have spoken to in recent weeks about bringing their product lines to the digital age are still under the assumption that the money will just roll in

They dont want to use unwatermarked images on tours, they dont want to offer affiliates free content, hosted galleries or even banners with their content on them for fear of watering down their brand/image.

All of this makes it really hard to get new sites launched LOL

I think the hardest thing i have found though in adapting physical product to the web is that a lot of these companies want to have some kind of familiarity between their existing webfronts and the porn sites they want to launch, which isnt easy when they only use 2 or 3 colors on their stores

A few of them also dont fully understand the concept of '2257' and having to provide documents to companies using their content, that is actually one of the more worrying things to me.

Oh well, rising to challenges is good as it keeps the mind fresh but still, its annoying having to constantly explain why what 'they' want to do isnt what they 'need' to do in order to be successfull.

Needless to say, there's a lot of good stuff happening behind the scenes with Condom Cash right now and hopefully sometime in the next few months will see the fruits of all of this labor in the public eye

    Regards,

    Lee

Why not be happy to see someone out there not pushing more free shit into the surfers hands? Isn't this what you rant about in the free content/affiliates have too much power threads?

Because you simply cant use watermarked images for anything, especially tour site design.

Add to that, you cant promote a site without banners and buttons and watermarked content is also no good for this.

There is one word for this Lee, ignorance. There are plenty of studios out there thank have not gone online because of the reasons you mentioned, just look at how Hollywood is reacting to the iTunes music store.

For me, this was the reverse process, I started out as a webmaster, buying content then moved on to making my own content for websites and then started producing my own line of DVDs. Our business plan has always included a combination of DVD publishing and Pay site operation, making the most out of every dollar.

I guess big studios would do great in cyberspace, especially since they are a known brand it would be less difficult to convince the user to buy the product/access.

    My views:

    - The more users who share my content for non commercial purposes and distribute it all over the place, the better. why? free advertisement and brand recognition and it results in amazing type in traffic without me having to bother getting it on all the torrents etc. However if a webmaster does it i see $$ in my eyes and DMCA'em right away.

    - watermarking? of course, but it has to be minimal and on videos only, preferable in the lower right (or upper left if there are subtitles in the video) with no more than 30% opacity. Text only.

    - Giving free content to affiliates? If I didn't I would be shooting myself in the foot I guess Affiliates are the prescious gems of every website, I do everything to keep them happy, including selling my grandmother :hippy:
