Illustration Work

I am about to begin a illustration job, I had no idea it was going to be this hard to complete. Most of the prices I am getting are between 900-1500$ (for one page) Anyone have a suggestion of a good/affordable illustrator, or other things I should watch out for when working with illustrators it would really help.

All this has turned into a big mess, not even sure I would get my money back from illustrations I might have done or much more money than I would other wise. Will be a HELL of a page, but I can see the dome that was built for the Spruce Goose out my window and not sure if I was to create the gay porn version of that. :crybaby:

So no one wants to call me a idiot for spending so much on illustrations? Or offer any advice of how to direct their efforts? I do hate the idea of paying more for one page than most people pay for their whole tours, yet of course I see the befits outweighing the cost. Besides with illustrations in theory I can control every aspect of the representations, and I believe illustrations stand up better over time than images

I say you were wise to work with professional illustrators. On my only illustration so far, I tried to use local artists not in the business of doing commercial illustrations...it was just an exercise in frustration, and I ended up doing the illustration myself. Passable quality, but not as good as I really wanted. Next time, I'll go with a professional illustrator, or find an alternative if the prices are too high for the value of the project.

When I read "Illustration" I don't think of toon or line art. I think of layers upon layers of shapes to build the total image.

However, there are many forms of illustration.

Kinda off topic, but I still want to find a budding Anime artist who wants to do a five-minute short for a project I'm working on...

If anyone knows of one.. give them my number.

Ya he’s a Pro yet still I do worry about stuff like this, its just so subjective. I just hope they will be able to do what I really want, hate to spend all that money and be disappointed.

This is the guy I am working with, http://www.twistedillustration.com (really have already paid him) he’s expensive but has done work for boyalley.com and some of other guys I have heard of as well. I do like his work yet I have to still wonder how it will look when finished.

In a day or 2 I should get my first look at the rough draft, guess I will have to wait and see
