I am having a tough time finding any "good" models for solo and even non adult sexy shoots. I pay top dollar but all I get is acne faced tweekers or other non attractive types. Any suggestions on an agency or a board where models post themselves for work? Thank you.

Finding quality models is the hardest part of running a production company, and even after 8 years, we still spend allot of money and time on finding new models. We get most of our models from people ( Model Scouts) that i have hired in various cities to look for models, some are photographers/video producers that will also shoot the models for us, some just refer the model to us and we will fly in and shoot the model and give the scout a referal fee. It has taken quite a few years of traveling, and placing ads in local papers in various cities to get these scouts in place, many have made big promisses on getting models but very few deliver, so you have to keep searching, eventually you can find the right people who enjoy finding models and who are good at it, and it becomes a win/win you get quality models and they make money and love there job looking for hot guys. The bottom line is when looking for models you need to be pro-active YOU or someone you hire will have to find them, in the Gym at a Bodybuilding contest, on the beach, wherever. We get the occasional model from an model message board or even escort web site, however most of those models are overexposed, or not up to the quality we are looking for. We also get about 25 applications a month to our model search area on our site, however i think in the last 5 years, we have used maybe 1 or 2 of these model submisions, most of the applicants are a joke, you would not beleive some of the photos we receive from would- be models, who think they are the total package, but are wearing rose colored glasses.
I hear you- I have had the most amazing emails and then....nothing. Being in LA it is harder since the pool of talent is tapped out and as you say over-shot.
I am trying to figure out a way to approach people I see at the gym or in the 'burbs without being ran down with their 4 wheelers or drug into an alley and skinned aliveI see a ton of great looking guys here in the small town I live in on the edge of the valley.

I agree with what markwolff said entirely. What I have tried in the past too is that I offer a referral fee to the models that I have used and if they refer a guy to me and I use him in a shoot, thats when I pay them. That seems to work really well and is just another way. One of the best ways is gay bars and clubs. Obviously you need the permission of management etc if u dont want to get kicked out but theyre full of twinkies and at least u wont get beaten up or runover :cheekymonkey:
i have an overabundance of talent, more than i can use. there was a time when i would scour the profile sites like bigmuscle for the talent i needed. nowadays, the talent seems to find us. i always thought it would be great to collaborate on projects with other productions houses. this would allow us to share the costs and it would double the market share. this would, of course, employ more models too. but i sense that for most producers, this is a solitary endeavor, sharing resources is not part of their vocabulary.
we also work with several photographers around the country who shoot prospective models for us. this helps separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. there's less of a risk importing talent for a video shoot if we know that talent is good in front of a camera. now, the photographers are sending us prospective models to consider. it's great! like having talent scouts all over the country and canada.

I am all about sharing and have no problem with that- I just prefer to shoot my models myself so I know I am going to get exactly what I want. I am know a ton of photographers also-but they are all mainstream and shoot models for "legit" agencies...if only a few of those boys would decide to get nekked I would be in heaven.
beefcakebiz - we're in l.a. we get tons of hot non-nude but sexy shoot models through craigslist. i mean LOTS. also get some through onemodelplace and modelmayhem but craigslist is the best place for shirtless and sexy men, and they have an adult section. also you can probably recruit over at bigmuscle.com by sending emails to the guys who look do-able.
if you're trying craigslist and not getting the models you want, perhaps there is another issue. are you shooting in a studio, which seems on the up and up, or in your residence, which scares off many legit models? i've heard horror stories from models aboug guys shooting in their residences, and the models say they will never do it again.
also what do you consider top dollar? we pay $150 per hour to most models, $100 to first timer amateurs and $250 to really hot or beefy guys but i know models who charge $500 per scene - generally the hot and mucular ones or the famous ones.
is that your place? if so, do you have any muscular guys who model locally?

I sent an email but have no reply yet. I am based in LA but would bring the right guy in if the look and attitude was there. Hot talent is priceless.
craig's list is good - drives in a nice variety of models for us and most models know to check out the listings regularly - we also meet a lot of guys at the gym and......
