So How Does Everyone Feel About The 2257 Ruling?

I have to say, for me it was pretty much expected which is why ive been re-working documents for the last few months.

How many of you are going to be fully compliant within the next 30 days with the 2257 regulations for secondary producers?

If anyone here has my content and needs 2257 docs for it, please get hold of me as soon as you can so that you are compliant. I think i have been pretty consistent in providing docs for every model, even befor ethe 2257 regs went down, but just in case...

lee can you post a link to the updated ruling please. i read an avn story but it's confusing and spends a lot of time on producers. im looking for something that's specific to secondary prodcuers (e.g. webmasters).

But it's not ruled on yet. after May 1, 2007 the court might rule.

And remember that a summary judgement in just a decision made on the basis of statements and evidence presented for the record without a trial.

It is used when one party is entitled to judgement as a matter of law.

The outcome of the actual trial could be way differnent.

In 2004 I was arrested at a Bush protest rally. The summary judgement was in favor of the prosecution...but the subsequent trail affirmed my right of free speech and I was aqquited.

But to answer your original question, it was about what was expected.

I've been following the secondary producer requirements for too many months...

Fortunately, nearly 100% of our content was shot by us (the balance was shot by my former business partner and transferred to us) so we didn't have to go through the hassle many other webmasters did of tracking down companies to get records.

We have been encouraging our affiliates for months to use our hosted tools so that they avoid the entire issue. We have been developing an add-on to our existing web-based 2257 solution that will allow us to provide redacted IDs and cross referencing to certain affiliates, and I suspect that we'll see the majority of programs offering a similar combination of hosted content and some sort of web-based 2257 access.

We have been as compliant as possible since we started in the biz 2 years ago. It would be almost laughable to inspect us, since there's not a model on our sites who would get ID'ed for beer- and more likely asked to show their AARP card.

The only vendor that never came through with the proper docs is World Wide Content- which is why we no longer buy from them and why we pulled their video clips from our sites.

Cost me money for sure, but taught me an important Lesson, that will save me in the long run.
