Lifespan Of An Affiliate Rep These Days?

Has anyone else noticed that affiliate reps only seem to stick around with one employer for about 6 months these days before moving on to new stuff?

Not specifically just in gay but rather the industry as a whole, it always makes me wonder why, after 2 or three years, and having worked for 4-6 companies during that time, these people STILL get hired.

I mean lets be honest, there is a reason these people jump from employer to emplyer every few months and it really doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what that reason is, they suck as affiliate reps.

Seriously, those of you have been employed by a company to 'rep' for them, how long have you been with your current employer?

Its seems like longevity when it comes to working for 1 company in adult is 12 months

    Regards,

    Lee

I fail to see how a rep could make a worthwhile contribution to a program in such a short time.

They are like hairdressers. I follow my favorite Reps from company to company.

    Can i ask why?

If they have to move jobs so much, their employers obviously dont think very much of their 'skills' as a rep or they wouldnt let them leave.

It would seem to me, that if a rep floats from employer to employer, they arent any good at being rep and therefore, if affiliates follow these reps around from company to company, they are doing themselves a dis-service.

Sometimes leaving a job is a sign of being in demand. I would imagine some reps/employees are 'recruited' away from some programs... CCbill Patrick for example.

    What, every 3-6 months? LOL

I agree that sometimes it is because the rep is in demand but typically this only happens once every few years, not once every 3-6 months, with the SAME person

Lee, I know exactly what your talking about. I was with my previous employer for 6 yrs and during that time, I watched people jump from one company to another. Sometimes, that person would end up being my rep at the next company. I do have to agree with Madame0120 thou... Sometimes you build a strong relationship with that person and they are easier to work with not to mention more eager to assist you. However, Pistol is right. What contributions do they offer if they don’t stay for a long period of time.

my boyfriend's not a rep or anything but he started changing jobs every 6 or so months a couple years ago and it hasn't heart him at all. His cell phone is always ringing, even late at night - he even got calls from Microsoft with some crazy offers to fly us cross country for job interview

I think changing jobs is not bad necessarily maybe the person just didn't like the place, co-workers, company, the boss. The last contributing a lot to switching jobs for many. Takes a while to find the perfect job sometimes

It's so cool when they do that. Before I started doing porn and after I quit working for Cox Communications my headhunter got me an interview at Tivoli Software in Texas (it was a new IBM spinoff then). They flew me out for a couple days, all expenses paid, nice hotel, free meals, real fun.

It is may I, but sure.

Why wouldn't I follow a Rep to his next company? It seems a part of this business in general.

A year ago I may not have, but I'm now one with the revolving door style of employment. I may not be able to keep up with who does what with whom, but I have a lovely lil circle of Reps, who have my loyality, cause they have been the ones that help me the most.

Don Mike, Joey and my Eddie- to name just a few- will always be a part of BlueToon Media, no matter who they work for.

Ah okay, so you arent actually following the reps the change jobs every 3 months, you are following the ones that stick with an employer, that actually makes sense because they have something to offer.

    Lee
