New to GWW!

A couple of friends and I have started our own porn company as content providers, making our own movies. We're just about to release our first DVD and we're already working on our second.

I'll mostly be doing "behind-the-scenes" type stuff, specifically web related, and I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions for everyone but wanted to start out on the right foot by introducing myself first.

First question... distribution. We've almost signed with one distributor, but haven't hammered out the details yet. We're not sure if we want to sign an exclusive deal with them, is it kosher to have more than one distributor? If so, any recommendations? Who do you guys use and are you happy with them?

Second question... web hosting. I'm working on the website now, we've got the domain name registered with GoDaddy but I'll be needing to move it to a "real" web hosting company soon. Any recommendations there?

Along the same lines, I'm thinking of using osCommerce for the web store. I've bought a template from TemplateMonster and am in the process of customizing it for our own look. Does anyone else use osCommerce? Pros/Cons? Other suggestions?

Last question (for now)... banking. We've set up a business checking out with a local bank. We'll need to find a merchant account and payment processor. Since we're not quite yet established, are there any special hurdles that we'll need to overcome first? Any recommendations for merchant accounts for newbies?

National Net comes highly recommended - http://www.nationalnet.com

OSCommerce is a good little package, you might also want to check out http://www.webmastercart.com although that is primarily for digital download use.

Netbilling.com is the company i would check out if you are wanting an adult merchant account

Thanks Lee, I'll definitely check out National Net for hosting.

I had checked with Net Billing before, but they don't accept new clients who bring in less than $50,000/month. Does that sound right? Does anyone have them with less monthly income than that? I'd love to be at that point, but I know we won't be just out the gate with our first video.

I saw that you had posted a while back looking for a PHP programmer, did you find one that you like? I know a little PHP but am stuck at the moment and could use some help in troubleshooting, do you know of anyone that would take on work on an hourly basis? I think once I get past this final hurdle we'll be ready to launch.

LOL... when I first moved here I did have to repeat it several times to friends and family, no one believed me that I really lived in a place called Surprise. Sadly, the name is about the only thing exciting about this place.
