Company Reps Still Ignoring The Gay Webmaster Community

So ive come to the realization that despite there being a shitload of money to be had in the gay webmaster community, lots of straight companies still avoid posting responses on the gay webmaster boards about their companies products and services, yet when something is asked on one of the straight webmaster boards, a reply is posted within minutes.

Is this just a lack of understanding that we [the gay wm community] have money to spend too or is it something deeper than that?

What do you folks think about this, why do straight orientated companies continually ignore the new business opportunities to be had from the gay webmaster community?

    Regards,

    Lee

Man with our company we get a ton (and I mean a ton) of straight DVD screeners and well as emails for models. The companies dont even look to see if sell the content they just send it. Which was cool in one way, got a free copy of Pirates, I had a movie night with my employees to watch it.

Well maybe they've seen board members go into attack mode if they say the phrase "gay niche." We are a tad defensive about that.

I think that we experience homophobic remarks on straight boards that may chase us away, and likewise, I can't imagine it'd be nice for a straight affiliate rep to be racked over the coals for saying "gay niche."

We can't have it both ways; we can't want them here, but then, rip them a new one when they make a faux pas. And I've done it, too, I remember ripping into the Gag a Fag guy, or whatever that sight was.

And if I were a straight rep and I happened by GWW during The War Against the Triad, I'd run the other way. I'd be scared to death that my company would suddenly become the target of something like that and I'd be on the unemployment line.

I agree with Michaels last post.

Also, I think a lot are ashamed to come here because of how Gays are treated on other boards. When they come here they see what it's like to be the minority and how vulnerable one can feel.

There are a lot of good people on the straight side of the business. I think a lot of them, like us, focus on what really interests us. To them Gay is icing on the cake when the program really starts expanding.

Well, if your a BIG straight niche porn company, hire a knowledgable gay rep so you don't take a beating when you want to promote your products to a gay audience. Nothing annoys me more than poorly conceived products from straight companies being marketed by ignorant reps.

If you want to play, you got to be gay!

From business standpoint it seem flatly stupid to ignore the gay community. I mean they spend so much money

you saying that gay isnt a niche :cheerleader: :p

but perhaps its simply a matter of putting the reps at work where there is more action or bigger chance that someone will start markeing their products ?

Hear hear! If they are launching a gay offering, finding out a few things about gay webmasters might be a good idea. And this is great place to do that.

I find it odd that anyone would ignore gay boards if your selling to gay webmasters. Most sponsors i promote starts off with a mention on the boards, an advert on this board or a link in someones sig.

If I was a company Rep, I'd have Board Tracker send me anything with my company name in it. Now if you are MY Rep and you have done me right, you don't need Board Tracker, you got Madame The Board Whore, who will e mail you, if you are getting chewed on.

As much as gay folks hate to be called Fag- I get the same feelings as ya'll do, when called a Breeder.

LOL! My affection and frustration, with regards to gay men- was forged way back in the 70's.

If I didn't like queeny, bitchy fags, I'd still be in hardgoods! :p

Okay it sounds like everyone is primarily focusing on the programs with sites that webmaster promote but, heres a good example of a company that doesnt have a program with paysites ignoring the gay webmaster community...

I guarantee you that if that exact same question was asked on GFY or one of the other straight boards, it would have a reply to it from NATs within 10 minutes.

Hi guys! I don't care whether you're straight or gay - it's personal and shouldn't affect business. I don't care about the orientation of people I like to deal with and I think that people lose much following their prejudice.
As a TopBucks representative I wanna say that we have a huge amount of gay and straight sites and I would be glad to assist you in promoting us.

Please, don't hesitate to contact me on ICQ or drop me an e-mail whenever you have questions:playboy:

    :square:

Well, don't be such a blockhead! Post your question where more likely it will be answered.

Dinna your Momma ever tell yoooo ...

Never cut off your nose to spite your face.

Afterall .. boards are really an extention of someone's webmaster programs, and designed to be a traffic hub, that doesn't look like a traffic hub. So I figure, since we all know this .. board activity may be dependent on the personality of the board owner. :develish:

i tend to agree here. this board is full of valuable information, those that dont use it as a resource are losing out, for whatever reason they dont utilize it
