    I Wonder? Internet Product Sales

Just wondered what you folks thought about the various products that we in adult deem to be 'mainstream' really should be classified as for example..

    History Kill Software
    Herbal Enhancements
    Viagra / Pharmacys
    Sexual Stimulants / Topical Creams

Would you say these types of products truely are 'mainstream' or, do you think that the adul industries version of what mainstream is varies somewhat compared to what the mainstream webmaster thinks?

I know i have seen software products that are advertised along the lines of 'get rid of unwanted porn on your pc' as well as 'get rid of unwanted information on your pc' does marketing seemingly mainstream products in this manner automatically label them as 'adult' even if that isnt the original intention of the companies markting them?

I will be interested also to see what your definition of adult vs. mainstream is too.

    Regards,

    Lee

I personally feel that it can go either way Lee. If you create a site that is non-offesive to mainstream viewers, yet appealing to those within the adult industry, I think it could be a big success.

We ventured into the mainstream software products as you might know and it seems to be doing well. Even though we provide information for adult webmasters to promote the software on www.topbucks.com we also have another affiliate program for just mainstream webmasters and promoters at www.topcash.com.

So with that said, I hope that this might be of some help to you and that it may inspire you to go through with what you maybe planning to do with these products you mentioned.

    Best Regards,

    Juan

Most adult webmasters don't know that we have TopCash. Like I said we use it mainly for mainstream webmaster. But see what happens when you come to GWW, you learn something new every day.

topcash was the original program back when they paid 7 cents per click to the gay sites. was it 4 cents to the straight sites? ah, those were great days *grin*

then they decided to pay per signup or revshare and rolled out topbucks.

Lee had asked in another post bout what we use for exit links, and on several sites I have one of the software links from topbucks. You don't have to go thru topcash to use those upsells if you're with topbucks already.

Thank you LdyLnWolf1 for pointing that out. Yes it is true, adult webmasters do not have to go to TopCash to promote the software products. You can find our software products on our TopBucks website. the TopCash website is basicly just for mainstream webmasters and affiliates. They seem to be converting pretty well btw.

In my opinion, I do not feel there is or should be a true classification for what is mainstream and what is adult. As you demonstrate above, it is all relative to the spin you put on it. Marketing is powerful that way!

A very good point however, if a product is 'adult' it is going to cost me $750 more than it would had it been 'mainstream' to take credit card transactions

Unfortunately whilst i agree wholeheartedly with you we do need to classify certain products as 'adult' and certain products as 'mainstream' to be able to run oour businesses

    Regards,

    Lee

with certain products, adult and non adult traffic sell with different tours - like penis pills.

also i think we'd better classify graphic pics of people getting blowjobs as adult - what do you think? ;-)

I do agree that there is some cross-over between mainstream and adult products. Herbal enhancements are a good example. It is all about the context within which you market the product. Viagra on a governement sponsored health page regarding men's impotency may be considered mainstream also. So whilst credit card processors may look at it differently; so do the general public.

    My $0.02

Very true...unfair, but true. We have a client, naturerx.com (ezkash), who sells supplements and enhancers, and I am sure there are other companies who are members of the board that could tell us how they've been classified by Visa. Since it is contextual, is Visa looking at each site and their affiliates and scrutinizing how they are promoting the product?

We may want to do that! LOL

I suppose I should clarify. I'm against classifying anything that has a mass/dual appeal. It makes things seem so black and white when there is SO much gray. I know there comes a time when we have to, but I certainly don't like it when it happens.
