Study shows 75 percent of kids have...

A Canadian study found that 75 percent of rural teenagers have seen porn on the Internet. Another U.S. study isn't as high, but still, 40 percent of teens ages 10 to 17 report they've seen pornography online. And two thirds of them say they weren't looking for it.

Before the Internet, there used to be shame in seeking out pornography, but now it comes directly to your kids.

How would you feel about your 10-year-old seeing porn? If they get online - and what tween or teen doesn't - chances are they already have.

Licensed Psychologist Scott Pribyl says, "30 years ago you might have seen partial nudity in a magazine and that was the big thing. Now you can see much more and a lot of graphic sexuality."

Sixty-six percent of kids who've seen porn online, say they accidentally stumbled across it. FULL STORY

    --------------

Two thirds of kids exposed to online porn weren't looking for it. I don't see the market to make a profit from 10-17 year olds in the adult industry do you?

Why would anyone bait and switch to get kids to see porn?

Alas, with some aggressive sponsor programs, assuming straight porn in this quoted article, the internet has become overwhelmed with porn. The backlash is indeed coming and those of us that did not, nor ever did, use a mis-spelling of a name in a domain for misdirection will be punished.

anyone remember Seth Warshawsky's whitehouse.com? That used to go to a pretty nasty straight site, and I'm certain that a lot of kids at some point or another went to whitehouse.com looking to do research for school. (That and people planning to visit the nation's capital.)

The people doing that are rogue affiliates getting paid per click or per email collected. This has got to be incredibly rare though since that traffic wouldn't convert and the affiliate suspended.

When they talk about kids being exposed to porn, you've got to believe it's through SE results (especially Google images) and personal blogs.
I post here to whore this sig.

I think most kids have seen porn. If suburbanite kids aren't seeing it on the internet, urban kids are seeing it up close and personal

I think most people who get caught viewing porn on the internet when they are restricted from it would say they weren't looking for it. :broccoli:

I was just saying that as a young brat we used to go to the candy store. Now it's sick that the marketing companies and some web sites don't care who's e-mail box they fill up.

Who ever sends out that kind of e-mails with out caring should have their fingers broken!

My child has his own computer in our home. It has filters and a decent anti virus and an excellent firewall.

He got a trojan that loads porn sites when he tries to log on to BBC kids and Cartoon Network. Hell YES kids are seeing porn unintentionally. My boy is a LITTLE boy, and not yet sophisticated enough nor interested in smut. So, at the moment the computer is unplugged until I can figure out how to remove the trojan bomb.

There are a lot of really dirty screwed up affiliates out there - and I am not sure why they think trojan viral packs work.... but one mistyped URL and you are infected with MILFs!

The article goes on to say. . .

"But some kids do want to see that stuff, and it's not always by accident that they view images their parents would protest.

Pribyl says, "They know how to find it and a lot of their friends are talking about it."

Sixteen-year-old Taylor Alexander says, "Even at school it's just so easy to get around the server. They have blocks on it, but there's web sites that make it look like you're in a different browser so you can go there. I've watched kids at school do it.""

I'd be interested in the gender breakdown - if there was a difference in terms of looking and not looking for it - as well as what percent of the 75% were looking for it versus not. While there are important issues being brought up in terms of filtering and illegal and spam type activity, the article in general seems slanted against porn in general.

Its realy sick when porn companys put trojans and worms on some one computer, thats so wrong! By the way shaun you might try a restore a few weeks backm and if that doesn't work a month or two back. Also you might want to reinstall xp.
