    Laptops and screens

Tempting to get one, I'm really tired of sitting at the desk.

But, I had a Compaq EVO for a few days when we went to DC, and the colors were off. Or they seemed that way compared with our CRTs plus most graphics looked overcompressed with artifacts

So im curious, anyone own a laptop to design sites and work on images?
XGA and the other screen types, which one would be the best to get that has less distortion?

    thx

Compaq laptops are crap! this is probably why the colours were off. I would recommend Dell laptops, I have had 3 dell laptops over the last few years and have always been very very happy with them

Of course if you want the best of the best for screens, check out the new line of Apple notepads, they are amazing!

    cheers,

if you got a spare $5000-$8000 lying around burning a whole in your pocket:

    L

They're like PC laptops designed specifically for multimedia/graphics folk and so a lot of effort goes in to making sure their displays are as fine as possible.

    Like this $18,000 beauty

I guess ultimately it comes down to the manufacturer of the laptop as to the screen quality.

With that said Sony and Hp laptops come highly recommended.

Hope you find one that works for you
