    Saturation In The Adult Industry?

How do you know when something in the industry becomes saturated, for example, content, sponsors paysites, traffic sources, etc?

Do you think there are set constraints on how long it takes for a specific site for example, to become over-saturated in the surfers mind?

Also, what about content, what do you think the shelf-life of a non-exclusive content set is these days?

On the subject of traffic sources, how about TGPs, Blogs, Review Sites, etc, how long do you think these sources of traffic are going to remain until they become to saturated and the effectiveness of them becomes diluted?

We often hear about 'sites' and 'content' being over-saturated but it is very rarely talked about in terms of a time frame, so in your opinion, how long does it take for something in the industry to become saturated to the point where it no longer makes affiliates or programs money?

    Regards,

    Lee

That's a good question but it depends on so many variables!

We all know the sites that have the exact same lighting in every shoot, same skin tone, same style, etc. Some of which do 2-3 updates a week and have tons of affiliates, those saturate in 2-4 years it seems. And now so many sites are copying their style that now the style itself is becoming saturated.

Imagine this in mainstream.. everywhere you turn is a new episode of spiderman done by a different director trying to copy the same style as the most popular one, and churning out 2-3 episodes a week.

The key to avoiding saturation is to switch up styles, settings and theme. Some are so afraid they'll lose a sale that they stick rigidly to the thing they know will make good money for a few years.

Some of the Gay communities biggest traffic hubs fall into the same trap, aggressively promoting content that follows that cookie cutter formula without much diversification. I've seen hub sites with promo images from 15-20 site and you'd think they were all shot by the same studio
