Minimum Sponsor Payout You Would Accept?

I recall in the thread that Brian started a month or two back there was a lengthy discussion based on the 'value' of affiliates in terms of how much they were getting paid so wondered, along the same lines of discussion as that one, what is the absolute lowest payout you are willing to accept from a sponsor at the present time?

The standard right now seems to be a base rate of 50% however, im wondering whether you folks currently promote programs that pay you less than that on a revshare basis?

Also, if you promote a PPS program, what is the minimum payout you look for, i know ive seen programs offering as low as $20 PPS but was wondering just how marketable these types of payout are to affiliates that currently use the PPS business model.

Your thoughts? What amount (on revshare and PPS) are you willing to accept as your base payout?

    Regards,

    Lee

hrem I dunno I'm not that picky actually.

I'm a low baller as long as I can pay all my bills and have some money in teh bank I am kool.
I think I would take lower then whoever else here says is their minimum.

    I'm content with like 4-5k a month

i.e. How much toothpaste can be crammed back into the tube? :goof:

I've tolerated 20% VOD payouts, but I'd never go for that with a rebilling site, as I have my own costs to deal with (I buy relatively quality converting traffic from various sources rather than masses of cheap traffic).

I can't say I'd take less than 50% otherwise, or $25-30 on a no-console PPS. If I wanted to make someone else 80%, I'd go back to a safe day job.

    Mike,

What if you had no choice?

I.e all of a sudden all the new programs that launched only offered less than 50% or less than $25 on PPS?

    Regards,

    Lee

imo thats one side of the equation. i understand that people flock to big numbers, but the only way to determine what the real payout is is earnings per click, tracked by the outbound clicks you send

because its all a balancing game. sure, i can increase payouts by $10 per signup, but to do that ill make adjustments in my contract (if i have a written one) with affiliates to not pay out on telephone transactions and online checks, or pay on trials where the member does not cancel before the rebill date, or whatever.

99% of the time affiliates will not know or notice the difference, but you draw people in with the high payout #s, so you have to be conscious of that

I thought the question was what I'd accept at the present time. In the unlikely scenario of an industry-wide, unanimous, sweeping change, I don't know what I would do personally, but I would question the sanity of the program owners in some cases. In other cases I'd ask them to back up their research and due dilligence. And in fewer cases it might be a good move but I'm not convinced that would be the majority.

I'd think that the rule of thumb is if they don't have a property that converts like Michael Moore in an IHOP then they better have triple-checked the math and be able to prove it's a good-to-neutral thing for the remaining affiliates. And to do that, there would have to be more to the equation than just cutting everybody's pay for the sake of greed.

There was an article about this in AVNOnline quite a while back ..
The premise looked payout vs conversion rate...

    Would you take 50% @ 1:450 or 35% @ 1:250 etc..

My rule of thumb for rev share is at least ~$10 per month payout, but there are exceptions for site that I think may convert well and retain well. PPS I don't like to go below $25. None of the sites that have interested me have offered max $20 PPS.
