Should Sponsors Update Their Terms Of Service To Include..

Not wanting to accept traffic from certain places/methods of traffic generation?

For example, comment spam on blogs, spyware/adware software etc?

I have seen a few companies with this in the terms and conditions for joining the program but, there are also a lot more that dont include these methods of generating traffic.

At the same time, sponsors mention they dont accept mailer traffic that isnt can-spam compliant so what makes mailer traffic and the other types of traffic i mentioned above different from each other.. They are both not wanted by the end-user so where's the line drawn between 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable' traffic?

If the traffic source is basically wasted bandwidth, ie. converts so poorly that it is a net loss for the sponsor, I think the sponsor should ban that traffic source. After all, I want the sponsor to prosper so it can offer the best deal possible to affiliates.

I say that we dont' accept sales from "Unwanted mailing" or any other illegal or misleading means. I think that spelling out every single shady way of sending traffic is going to eventually have someone come up with some new shady way of sending traffic and it won't be in your terms of service.

completetly agree.. we put up warnings about canspam and misleading traffic, but nothing in regards to an entire list
