    2257 Investigations...

I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this yet or not. But recently JT was investigated by the FBI. He had a couple problems with his model record-keeping stuff.....

Resource this... I've done my share.....

I am the owner of Sebastian Sloane Productions, between 2 weeks and a month after I joined AMVC I was investigated and targeted by the FBI on my record-keeping, like a couple others I passed.

Diabolic Studios was hit. And several others were hit as well.

Everyone is tied into AMVC somehow that was ever investigated.

After resourcing everything, I think this could be a ploy by AMVC to stimulate more mergers and acquisitions.

Now, I'm not saying AMVC is doing this. But it just seems strange to me that EVERYONE who has been hit has been related to AMVC somehow whether it's banner exchanges or they brokered their videos.

When I was targeted and investigated one of the FBI investigators told me I would be receiving a letter in the mail stating that I passed the 2257 record keeping investigations and that they would be back to finish their follow-up.

Shortly after that AMVC dropped me because we had some problems.

And once I was gone from AMVC, I never heard from the FBI or any other relating matters. It just disapeared.

When the FBI was here, they told us they were doing random investigations, etc. But my attorney and I firmly believe that it was something different as perhaps I had been "reported" because the titles I had weren't even live one month yet and all of the sudden I was investigated. And I'm a very small amateur studio yet but growing rapidly. I only had 8 titles that time.

Perhaps this is something to think about. Seriously. I'm not accusing AMVC of doing this, but trace back to all of the investigations.

If your assumption is correct, do you have a guess (that you're willing to share) as to why AMVC was targeted?

    AMVC was targeted?

I never knew AMVC was targeted. What I'm saying is it seems that everyone who AMVC is associated with is targeted by the FBI.

I had my fair share of problems with AMVC. I didn't understand the model index file stuff until AMVC did them for me.

My studio produced 8 films April of 2006. They were all "distributed" at the same exact time last year. AMVC started carrying my titles around July of last year. The company to carry them first was AEBN.

I think it was awfully strange how they hadn't been out a month and I had been investigated. Brand new studio. And clearly by looking at the models then you could totally tell they were over the age of 18.

Shortly after I was investigated, AMVC dropped me.

They were the first I told I had been investigated. THEY rushed and contacted AVN, XBiz, etc. to get press releases on it. I hadn't even contacted AVN. They did. And they RUSHED to put the press release on their site.

Then later down the road more investigations occured. And if you look back, AMVC has all had their hands in the studios some shape or form whether through banner trades, press releases, or they brokered for those studios.

Do your math and research and you'll see what I believe.

I would hazzard a guess that since AMVC Amateur Gay and Straight XXX Homemade DVD Videos is trading in the homemade / amateur arena that the FBI probably thought they could rack up a number of easy infractions. I would imagine the rationale would be that big studios are probably fairly solid on their record keeping (not always) however an amateur videographer may not have even heard of 2257 or may be perceived as being more likely to have sloppy record keeping.

    Cheers

I would venture to agree with you here. There have been people that I have talked to before who basically from talking to them, had never even taken the time to read 2257. When starting into the adult arena, that is one of the first things that I went over, and had an attorney go over it with me just to make sure that I understood it fully. I still to this day have a copy on the back of my toilet (), and I read over it again and again re reading it to make sure that I know the details of it.

I sense a new fetish site starting... 2257 sites, with hot guys posing next to pictures of Gozales, Ashcroft, and Reno and hot stories taken from the 2257 regs...

If I understand it right, the whole 2257 thing is more about teaching people to keep correct records and not so much about illegal content.

Almost every time I read about something in relation to 2257, it says that some company didn't have their docs in order and mostly they were granted time to correct the issue.

I also have the impression that they seem to look mainly after websites which clearly adult models, where only a blind could have any doubts about the legal age of the protagonists.

Which on the other hand makes me feel good, because there can't be so much real crime out there in porn world when authorities and investigators keep themselves busy with checking companies for correct paperwork.

But hold on, maybe it's just the easier catch with a lot of public attention, so they don't have to dig into the real dirt. And this would really make me worry.
