Last week, EVERY GROUP was attacked by the "Delete Rats". This
particular Rat Attack was different from the others. It was Vindictive!
In addition to the usual movies and videos from major studios, links
for software, amateur clips, picture sets and help files were deleted.

RapidShare, MediaFire, MegaUpload, SendSpace, etc. have no choice,
they must delete the links if they receive complaints. It is not their
fault.

Just what are "Delete Rats"?

DELETE RATS are individuals who cause the deletion of download links.
From experience, there are basically 2 types of "Delete Rats".

1) For-Profit Rats: These Rats report to Major Studios and are usually
compensated with products, memberships, services, etc. They go from
group to group, gay, bi and straight, running keyword searches.

2) Vindictive Rats: These Rats are the worst, they complain directly to
file sharing services to get links deleted. Usually, Bitter Drama Queens
who did not get their way. You know the type, always causing trouble,
the first to find fault, blaming and flaming, until finally they get banned.

So, what can we do?

Since "For-Profit Rats" rely primarily upon search engines, we can try to
make our posts less searchable. Most search engines require 3 or more
consecutive letters to function. For studio, titles and models, we could
use initials only. For the actual links, we could use link protection or url

shortening services such as: Lix, TinyUrl, SnipUrl, etc.

Additionally, many contributors use links to video and movie websites
for preview pictures and descriptions. This works beautifully if it is to
websites such as: TLA, HIS, MovieMonster, etc. However, if it is to a
studio sponsored website such as: BelAmi, Lucas, Rad or TipoSesso,
the link is tracked back, so be careful.

As for "Vindictive Rats", it is best they never get into the groups. It is
impossible to keep them happy and they will always cause trouble.

Many owners and moderators of closely monitored groups share the
names and email addresses of these Rats and routinely purge them
from their groups. This information should be sent directly to group
owners and moderators, NEVER openly posted on the groups or the
"Vindictive Rats" will attack with a vengeance!

For most of us, owning or moderating a group is a part-time hobby.
Your input and suggestions are greatly appreciated. So, please share

Thanks Hotporn! That is an interesting look inside of the minds of these bastards.

Delete rats! Lol. Did it ever occur to them that maybe it is just us small business owners trying to protect our property?! How would they feel if we walked into their homes and just started helping ourselve's to their property... shoveling armloads of their belongings into a garbage bag and dragging it out the front door? I bet they'd be pretty fucking pissed!

Is there not some way we can band together to locate and sue at least a small number of these folks? The publicity implicit with being named as a defendent in a theft of porn/copyright infringement case wont stop them but maybe we could make like seriously miserable for at least of few of them. There must be some way we can get behind this to put a dent in it. Make life miserable for some.

I have names and addresses of 2 offenders that ripped us good. I'm not sure what to do with the information though.

Go after rapidshare and blogspot... sue their asess off if you can... these types of people are just going to open new blog and re-upload same stuff... If anyone should be guilty it's sharing sites like rapidshare, they can pretend as much as they want that people use those sites for personal stuff... it's almost never the case...

Combine all that you posted then with all the gay torrents there are out there (anyone want a couple of links to current ones that are showing Pierre Fitch to Randy Blue's stuff? sadly, I'm not even joking) and then you get a better picture as to WHY, or at least ANOTHER reason sales have really gone down for everyone.

Why pay for something when you can get it for free? Even besides gay porn, plenty of copy right movies..and there are even adult message boards that has no problems of people ASKING for links to movies and POSTING those links. (No, not naming any names..not wanting to get involved in the middle of anything..but I think you can figure out WHO some of those boards could be).

I think this same issue is also being addressed by the "community" at GFY. So I will pose the same question here, why are sponsors keeping around affiliates that are linking to stolen content? It should be easy to go in and just shut that affiliate off, which would take away the income that they are making off of everyones content.

Any affiliate we have found posting any stolen content has been deleted. I don't understand the biggest companies that have banners with affiliate link codes on password trading sites. That is a tacit endorsement of the practice.

btw...many/most of you have been at this much longer than I have. However in my previous 'life' I dealt with intellectual property and found it very cost effective to sue for each and every infraction. We must protect our product and treat it with the respect that it deserves. All us producing exlusive content know how expensive it is and how many hours of our lives we give to our work. There must be a way, even on a case by case basis to adress this problem. Our content is all we really have in the end.

With affilate income, I have been avoiding those over exposed. Too many know there is a resource available for popular sites.

As HOTPORN wrote, maybe in time owners, besides Titan, will protect copyright and go after Rapidshare and Google's Blogspot. Might be quite a profitable lawsuit.
