DRM netorks makes change that breaks entire sites?!

Just ran across this:

which claims that DRM networks made a "sudden technical change" that stopped every clip from working, and they have to re-encode their entire library of clips in order to bring the site back up (which also seems suspect, as one has to have the encoded clips in the first place in order to wrap them with the encryption. Don't people keep backups?)

Since many other sites, including Corbin Fisher and Sean Cody, also use DRM Networks (CCBill) for their DRM, I'm sure such a change, if it were the actual cause of the problem, would be all over AVN and XBiz and GFY, but it's the first I've heard of it.

Anyone know anything about this?

Interesting, this is the first i have heard about this and, in all honesty, if it was a problem with DRM Networks, it just highlights another reason why DRM can be a bad thing for site owners, as in this example, an entire site has been rendered un-usable thanks to a problem with DRM.

I could imagine this being a chargeback nightmare in the right circumstances :eek:

I'm not sure what the issue was that they're referring to, but our DRM files are working just fine.

That being said, I think we're going to get away from DRM because... as it's been pointed out many times.. DRM doesn't work and is a pointless waste of time.

Yep their 2257 address is now in Germany, Bill shot me an email a couple of days ago letting me know because i still had their old info on my 2257 page.
