Are Gay Webmasters More Matured Than Straight Ones?

Not trying to stereotype or anything, i know there are exceptions to everything but, it would seem to me like more and more of the primarily straight driven message boards are fed by posters who constantly act like children, registering fake usernames, starting threads about things that could be kept private, etc

Yet, in the gay side of the industry, its very rare that we see people using fake usernames to try and garner 'page views' for their threads and even 'sig whoring' doesnt seem to be as prolific as on the str8 side of things.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why this would seem to be the case, are gay marketers more 'mature' in how they do business or have we just not realized this aspect of the business yet?

    Regards,

    Lee

I have to laugh, I mean seriously, given how some have behaved both here and elsewhere, I wouldn't even have thought there was much maturity left on either side of the spectrum. :kickcan:

On the straight side, they accuse us of being drama queens, then on the flip side we have GFY and others, though I will say that I see more business discussed over on 'our' side of the coin, the drama is just as heavy, the nonsense posts are just as invasive, and childish behaviour is rampant on both sides... as more kids get computers and think porn is a great way to earn bar money or drug money...

    THANK YOU!!!!

I find it absolutely laughable that Lee would say that, given the behavior of many of the folks on this board, gay webmasters are more mature than straight ones.

What I have found on this board in particular is a bunch of small-time webmasters who sit around their houses or their offices passing judgment on everyone they can, and act like it's their right to do so. Every time a site goes down for a few hours, it becomes an exercise in "Oooooh, who can accuse them of being scumbags first?" There's always something "nefarious" about every glitch in a program, as if every webmaster in this industry is out to fuck their affiliates over. People seem to want to say that it has to be about something "wrong" or "evil," instead of just giving people the benefit of the doubt. And they do so publicly, which is absolutely beyond me.

I know this kind of thing happens on GFY all the time, but the gay webmasters are the ones who keep saying, "But we're different. We're not like those assholes on GFY." But many gay webmasters have totally turned into that. In fact, to me, they are even WORSE, because they KNOW better.

I have never been more disappointed in the actions of gay people than I have been in coming to this board, where anyone and everyone is subject to being attacked, slandered, ridiculed and publicly humiliated without any regard to their reputation, their business' viability, or their past behavior. And that's one of the reasons why I am leaving this industry very soon. This has been an eye-opening experience for me, and a disheartening one at that.

What does any of that have to do with sig-whoring, fake nicks or, getting page views?

Instead, you just did exactly the thing your post says you are disappointed in LOL

How long until you leave the industry btw?

    Regards,

    Lee

Lee, the topic of this thread was open-ended. You simply asked if gay webmasters were mature than straight ones. You included a few examples (sig whoring, fake names, etc.) in your post, but there was no indication that people were required to talk about only the things that you spoke of. In truth, those things have very little to do with a person's maturity. If you want people to address specific topics, then you shouldn't post open-ended questions.

Also, if you pay very close attention, you will see that I have never publicly attacked anyone on this site--well, except for you, and even then it was only in retaliation to things you said about AVN or myself. I've merely posted opinions on a number of topics addressed here, and have done so honestly and with integrity. I have nothing to be ashamed of. As I said before, I have done nothing but attempt to bring gay webmasters success and attention in my job at AVN, and I have handled myself in a manner that I am very proud of. I am opinionated, but I'm not unfair, and I take responsibility for and own up to my faults and/or mistakes. Would that you could say the same thing, Lee.

Gay ones are nicer most of the time. That's all I can say from personal experience.
