What Are Your Thoughts On 'Pre-Pay' Cards For Adult?

I know there have been a couple of companies that have promoted these in the past although they seem to be long-gone and im wondering if you folks thought the reason for them no longer being around was because of a lack of interest in the product, or because the product was launched before the need for the arose?

Ive been talking to a few different companies over the past couple of days about launching a kind of 'pin code' access to a site that could be distributed in clubs, bars, and book stores etc but was wondering if you folks thought this would be a good revenue stream?

Do you think people in the 'real world' would buy pre-paid cards to access an online porn site or would they be just as likely, or more likely, just to whip out their card and signup online?

    Regards,

    Lee

well they might work but i personally dont think so... the whole problem with them would be that if they only had porn sites using them they would sort of be a dead tell as to what you would be buying with them

and also porno isnt somthing you think about buying before it happens, so having to go pick up the card and then use it would probably not happen very often..

I'm not really sure who would you try to address with this sort of prepay?

Would he get free 7 day trial if he used the pin code?

or are you trying to get those people that don't have credit cards to buy with money. Only I can think of are young teenagers that don't own their own credit cards and extremly low percentage of other people?

I'm not too sure why you want to do a step backwards as opose to going forward?

If anything this industry should start accepting sms billing. It's the easiest, much easier than credit card signup. Fastest. And so frekain common that I have no idea why this sort of payment is not becoming more and more popular among paysites.

You just need to write a code in SMS for example "Condom Site 3" send to certain number and you are instantly billed, and instantly receive reply with your passcode.

For the same reason that Verizon, Cingular, TMobile, Boost, etc are going backward maybe with their pre-pay cell phones?

SMS Billing is crap, the U.S cellphone market isnt as matured as the rest of the world when it comes to text messaging or SMS services, plus the fact that payouts on SMS billing are miniscule compared to what the consumer actually gets charged probably has something to do with it too

We looked at a few of these options and found that the revshare just didn't make sense for VOD, they wanted too much for the processing to make it worthwhile after we pay studios and affiliates.

One model that we do like, however, is NetCash which is a virtual card system that gives us the added benefit of being able to accept AMEX - oooh, ahhhh.
