    Um Help...

Im trying to create a graphics span across the entire width of a page of an image that has a gradient on it, kind of like a bg i guess that expands with a central image on it.

Im having trouble getting the bg to look 'clean' though, by that what i mean is, it looks like the gradient, when i create my 16px wide image to use for the bg has darker edges on either side of it so the bg looks, patchy in that every 16px instead of creating a liquid design effect, it looks like its just putting a new 'block' thats 16px wide through the page from the left of my screen to the right.

Anyone here able to tell me how to stop this from happening?

Sorry i dont know the right 'terms' to use with what im after

    Regards,

    Lee

Here is an example of what im trying to do..

    http://joyent.com/

See the middle of that big brown section, how that has an image in the center then the brown continues to the left and right, i have it but it doesnt look seemless right now and i think it has to do with the gradient im using.

I use gradients that are 2px wide by 2400px high, and they look seamless. Try making the narrow part of your gradient on 2px. I did have trouble using a greater number of pixels on the narrow part (the part that expands across the background).

Awesome thanks Dean, reducing the width worked like a charm
