If You Cant Do Something Yourself...

Will you tell one of the people you are friendly with in the industry about your idea?

For example, i have a couple of people that send me domain name ideas they had if they dont have the funds available to register them, sometimes ill register them, other times i wont.

Also, traffic wise, a few people will tell me about niches that they feel will become popular in the future and dont have time to do anything to generate traffic from the niches/keywords they suggest and ill build a site or two to judge how effective the demand for that niche is and share my results with the person who initially told me about it.

I just wondered if you told others about the ideas you have if you cant develop your idea once you have actually had it or, are you the type of person to keep things secret until you get around to doing it yourself?

I might sound a like a bastard now, but I'd never ever tell anyone any ideas I might have. Neither regarding traffic, niches, ratios or even new sites I stumble upon.

I've been burnt very very badly by my former "friend", who lost the job and had no idea what to do, so I told him and most of all HELPED him get into the business. Now, I've showed him the easy way, which took me over 2 years to gather on my own, and shared all the knowledge with him.

Within months he started promoting the same sponsors, using the same traffic, and it went that far that he registered similiar domains to mine, copied my entire galleries and replaced only ref links with his, copied my free sites, and in the end, bastard was so freakin lazy that he just used the same pics on galleries as I have (which you can tell because I usually resize them, color correct etc.) ....

Obviously I'm not on speaking terms with him anymore. He's still around, but I don't pay any attention to him anymore.

Anyway, to summarize, no I would not share initially, I would share my views or suggestions, I always tend to, but so called "secrets" nope.

Depends on what it is ... I've certainly showed some people some sites that would work well with their traffic, plus I've found a few domain names available and gave a heads up to those that could benefit from them, moreso than I could.

But they're also the same folks that take time to reciprocate in kind with help and assistance when I need it, or share something they think can benefit whatever I'm doing as well.

I do with people on my ICQ list. If i cant do it, ill tell people and if they make bank with it, hopefully they will remember me when their rich

If im not doing it, who cares? At least if someone did pick up my idea, id know i was right and could be all smug about it.
