Who Controls The Adult / Gay Industry In Porn?

I was wondering what you folks thought about this question, do you think there are individuals or companies that 'control' what happens in the straight and gay market places so far as the trends, sites that get promoted, people you do business with goes or do you think its pretty much a free-for-all with nobody having much of an impact on anyone else?

Ive heard stories over the years about individuals and companies who beleive they are all powerfull and think they are 'important' when it comes to what does and doesnt get promoted in both the gay and the straight markets but i was wondering what the rest of you folks thought about this, do you think there are companies that have the ability to 'control' what webmasters do on a large scale?

    Regards,

    Lee

I don't believe in the 'gay porn mafia'. If they existed for real, I wouldn't be making a dime in this business.

Do you think thats because they beleive they are important though when in reality, they actually arent?

'Do you know who i think i am?' springs to mind with a lot of 'those' people

control ... not per se i don't think

only thing i could think of is the leverage big programs have at making themselves be at the top of webmasters' list to promote somehwat more than the average other program, by way of offering all of their content to affiliates for free and the $50 payouts and all of the other tools and gimmickry they use to get people to push them.

ultimately if the content is compelling and ratios are awesome a program can get a respectable size of webmasters. for a while anyway. imo

ccBill and paycom, being the largest 3rd party billers out there, They definately influence what a webmaster can and can't do, and yes its based on CC rules, but it is their opinion on whether we are compliant or not, that dictates a webmaster being accepted or not.

Their list of language use, of appearance all influence and control what eventually goes before the public, unless you can afford your own merchant account.

I don't think anyone controls it, like Jim points out, if there were real controls there would not be so many small and mid size programs like hunkmoney, condomcash, uknakedmen, etc...

One of the people that is banned from this site had a classic line at seminar:

"There is no gay mafia in the adult industry. If there was, there would be lot of people dead."

The next thread should be titled "Which webmasters are going to be bumped off by the gay mafia?"

I've always been openly gay. It would never occur to me to behave otherwise.

Until I see Illuminati Inn Twinks and Trilateral Anal Kings, I think we are pretty much in the clear. The the gay online world is pretty much open to a 'may the best site win' philosophy.....talk brick and mortar/distribution and print you have a story...

I can hear the black helicopters circling even now.
