A little over a year ago an attorney on the other side of a case, and a client who was willing to pay him for foolishness, read every post I had ever made on GWW. He found this one:
http://forums.gaywidewebmasters.com/...t=%24100+spent
and sent a letter complaining to the Arizona Bar association. The only purpose was to harass me.
I had to respond to the complaint but I did stand my ground. What I said was in jest. I had to explain to the Bar examiner that actually called me on the phone that (1) l know this is a gay website (2) I am gay (3) I am not ashamed of that (4) I did not actually hire 3 prostitutes at the same time in Bangkok for $100 (5) I did not deduct any money from my tax returns for the renting of prostitutes (6) prostitution is legal in many countries as well as the State of Nevada, and I advocate the legalization everywhere (7) nothing I wrote, taken in the context of that thread, violated any ethical rule of the Bar (8) I would defend myself against any filed complaint based on that thread. The Bar examiner decided I had not broken any rules, although he hated me for being gay and advocating legalizing prostitution. I honestly think his total disgust for me factored into his determination to drop any further investigation. I say I broke no ethical rules with that post, and nothing came about from it.
However, it still took me time to respond to the baseless accusations. It also put me on notice how far the opposing side would go to find dirt on me or harass me. I can honestly say I am more careful since then as what I write really WILL be around forever. I have no delusions of political office again so it is unlikely that what I write, what I say, and what I believe can really be used against me so long as I speak my own mind and be honest. There are always going to be nosy fuckers that try to dig up dirt on other people, twist words, and make all attempts to paint me or whoever their target is in a bad light. For that reason, I am a bit more careful of what I say.
