Free Vs. Trials Vs. Full Monthly Memberships

I just wondered what you folks thought the main differences were in terms of marketing these different price points to surfers?

Is it harder for us (as affiliates) to market full priced memberships when compared to low priced or free trials and what are the major differences between the types of surfer that buy each?

Also, do you think the source of traffic comes in to play when choosing 3 sites in the same niche with the 3 different price points?

Your thoughts, does how much a membership to an adult website (even if its free) cost depend on different methods of marketing to the surfer?

I am only marketing on free sites (meaning submitting small free sites to free link lists, submitting free galleries to free TGP's, free galleries on my own free TGP, and free sites on my own free link list). To me, the only full-priced membership sites worth promoting via submissions are fetish or microniche paysites. For other types of paysites, I'll only do submissions if they are PPS with trial membership.

When we dropped trials, our signups went down but members retained longer, so overall it was a nice boost to the bottom line. And for me, I have found it almost harder to sell free trials, maybe its a mis-trust on the surfers part.

not to hijack the thread or anything but it is sort of on topic anyways... i was wondering if the guys that run paysites currently would recommend people starting up a new paysite to offer trials or just offer full monthly membership ?

also any thoughts regarding recurring vs non recurring on totally new site ?

We just dropped our Trials about 10 weeks ago. We noticed a small decline in new signups at first, but we are retaining our members longer now. Plus we are now making more money. We were using trails when we first launched Buzzwest.com as a way to get a bunch of members quickly, but after we reached a certain number of memberships we got ride of them.

I think that free / trial memberships are a waste of my time and money.

A shoot costs in excess of 10k for us. Why should I let ANYONE look at it for 4.99? I have an extensive free area, where my models can be seen fully dressed. If they want my boys naked, they can pay for it.
