For those of you who use Google as your preferred search engine..

Have you ever clicked a sponsored Adword link for anything 'adult webmaster' related?

Im looking at doing some marketing of several of our sites utilizing PPC traffic and am trying to figure out if it is really worth doing.

I can personally say i have never clicked any adult webmaster related links in Adwords but then, im weird i guess so what about the rest of you? Do you use Adwords when searching for content providers, hosting companies, message forums / boards or anything else relating to the adult industry?

Lee, just make sure you track your traffic and check your stats very often so you don't lose your shirt on ppc. It is very easy to spend a load of money on ppc and get nowhere fast.

Only clicked on adwords twice in my life, both times it was to check out the people who were advertising sites along the same lines as mine. So in other words they just payed to have me sus out my competition.

Well i haven't used adwords for adult sites - however, I would think that would work. IF you buy very specific keywords, and point them to specific products that directly relate. I don't know offhand what Google's policy is on adult ads though. (for example, they prohibit cigarette ads)

I have used Adwords with success. In my case, I run a campaign for a specific almanac that sells for $70 on Amazon. People have to type in the name of the book - otherwise the ad doesn't appear. And it works - i get clickthoughs and a surprising number of sales.

The program is pretty neat. You can control what your ad budget is, and your ads appear almost immediately.

In other words - my best advice is to be as specific as possible. And customize your ad word to your campaign.

As an aside - I noticed a few months ago, that GameLink bought keywords for just about every major pornstar name and studio. I don't see that anymore, so my conclusion on that is that their marketing experiment wasn't successful.

So non of you have clicked on Adwords for any webmaster rlated product other than seeing what your competitors are doing.

If thats the case i think you may have just saved me a couple of hundred bucks and a heap of time too

I never clicked on webmaster links but have click sites realated to mine, as someone mentioned before. I played that game for a short time. Google kept suspending my account because my keywords were not getting enough click thrus. In other words they were not making enough money off of me to even bother.. Therefore, I stopped using them and opted to just let them pick up my sites for indexing if they felt a need to..

IMO.. Google Suxxs..

yes, i have clicked on adwords quite a bit....its usually out of frustration with google's listings. I have found in the last 6 months or so google has been so "off the mark" with their listings and the only way to get anything that is relevant is to click on their adwords.

But that being said, I have switched about 95% of my searching to yahoo now, their results always tend to be way more relevant.

i have never searched google for anything sponsor related. after reading this thread, i did. and lo and behold - i found a really kewl link in the paid adwords column. go figure!

your best bet is to try it. just 'cause we don't use it doesn't mean nobody does.
