I Wonder? As an affiliate who stumbles upon pirated content...

    Hello!

First of all, I'm new to the forum. So I'll go ahead and extend my apologies if this is something that has been asked/answered in the past.

This question is extended towards the content creators and webmasters who put their sweat, effort, and money into producing content.

I belong to a fair number of Yahoo! Groups.

In recent months I've noticed a dramatic increase in the number of postings with Rapidshare-type links to download pirated content.

In many cases the files have had their names changed and/or there is little identifying information about the content.

Some people, however, are apparently so lazy that they don't even bother to disguise the fact that they are making pirated content available.

My question (finally!) is this: should I bother to notify the producers of the content when I stumble upon it? Do you care? Is there anything you can do about it? Is it an annoyance?

I don't mind spending 30 seconds to forward something on if it can be of assistance. I don't want to be a pest, though...

See the image below for an example of what came through my in box today.

    Cheers,

    J :cheekymonkey:

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

    Yes report it.

Thats the only way we're going to be able to curb the content theives that are taking money from all of our pockets.

    Regards,

It's ridiculous how much work some people are willing to put into stealing free porn.

I've seen movies split into 20 parts and sent over Rapidshare.

It's like...who the f**k has the time and energy to sit around downloading 20 parts of a grainy low quality file to piece back together?

Why can't services like Rapidshare be held more accountable? What other sorts of large files are people sending through such services? :cop:
