can someone PLEASE explain RSS to me?
I mean.. I get it.. it's an xml feed.
but is it something that will just automatically update to people's blogs?
Or do they copy it and then edit it to have their own affiliate codes and such?
I'm getting a lot of requests for RSS feeds for blog (although mostly from straight webmasters going for the gay $) and I'm not really sure what it is that they're asking me for.:worm:

RSS can be XML or OPML
but I'll let someone who uses Affiliate feeds answer the rest.
On a side note: It means you would do all the work for them, they simply plug the feed into their blog(s) and nothing more. The next step to this process would be them holding out their hand because they feel you should pay them for knowing your website address.

So it's like those TGP owners who ask me to make them exclusive galleries with thier affiliate codes added, host them and send them some traffic.
No wonder it seems to be mostly straight people who are asking for them.
I'm willing to try it, mind you... but I'd wanna watch the success rate. Hardly makes sense to do lots of work and pay people if it's not really making me much in return.

If you aren't ready to setup an rss generator with their code and your galleries via your affiliate area you can suggest they do this:
http://www.adultblogresource.com/gallery2blog/ -- download it, it's free. Go to any sponsor's website, and download the fhg's into a csv file. Now plug that into the gallery2blog to create an rss feed. Done.
It's not an auto-update solution, as it will just contain the galleries the feed got created from, but it's a start.
I'm not sure what is needed to have a tool like this inside your affiliate area, that auto update. I haven't checked to see if that feature is available through Nats as yet. Might want to talk to Twan over at http://www.adultwebmastergroup.com/ -- he's the one that wrote the gallery2blog script and lots more goodies for adult webmaster usage.

If you as an affiliate program launch an blog rss feed for affiliates you will get a ton of wemasters and traffic. Check out http://www.thesponsorfeeds.com/ for a easy way to do it.
The basics of it is you post on your blog and then all the webmasters who have your rss feed syndicated on thier blog with their link code passed in
Its really win win and with http://www.thesponsorfeeds.com/ you will not have any duplicate content problems with google
That looks a bit like the Blog Organiser and getting it with the Affiliate Module. I'm curious now how they differ ... I'll have to read the features of each again now!

Increasing blog productivity and sales via automation is hardly lazy, it's smart and may increase the profits of both webmaster and sponsor.
I'm certainly not lazy, and I find having an rss feed available for various sponsors a major assist in keeping my blogs updated with new material. While I still try to add my own posts, it can be a godsend when I'm ill, or need to put my attention on something else. RSS can be, and is used, for a wide variety of things on a blog.
The program owners i have spoken to that offer RSS feeds for their affiliates tell me that *maybe* 5% of affiliates actually using the feeds make sales from them.
You are right, it MAY increase sales for a small percentage but for the vast majority of affiliates that will use RSS feeds they simply dont know what to do with them other than plug them in to their blogs in order to monetize those feeds.

Yes it can, but only by a few affiliates, most affiliates will just throw it on their blogs and expect the sales to come rolling in with no other work involvement from them.
As i mentioned above, i have considered offering RSS feeds for Condom Cash, i even registered CondomRSS.com to do this but after researching what affiliates do with these feeds and speaking to other program owners about how successfull their feeds are in terms of *actual* profits for the program its just not worth the additional cost unless you want to attract affiliates by saying 'look! we have rss feeds too' and if thats all a program wants to do, there are better, more cost effective ways to attract affiliates.
If you doubt me, take a look at the programs who started offering daily updated RSS feeds, then a few weeks later, they went to weekly updated RSS feeds, then a few weeks later they went to monthly updated RSS feeds, now if a program updates their feed once every 2 or 3 months the affiliate will be lucky.

It actually does look cool, to be honest.
Yeah, I know it's me doing a lot of the work, but I'm starting to get used to that anyway.
And this way I can get all the facts right, accentuate the things I want accentuated and release info when I want it released.

Until you get the users who start changing the contents of your RSS feeds to what they want them to contain the second they hit their server, including things like changing linking codes, text, prices, etc, etc.

i like rss feeds because it means i dont have to do anything to give my blog content but some sales are still made its great you should definately add it to your sponsor
