Buying A 2nd Home In Mexico - Anyone Done This?

Im looking to buy/build another house, possibly in Mexico somewhere and just wondered if any of you folks had ever done or considered this yourselves?

Right now, from what i have seen new home prices for a decent looking 2/3 bed, house range from abnout $100k+.

Anyone got any advice or sites i should check out to get more information on this?

    Regards,

    Lee

That price looks like you are looking around Mexico City or Baja

Maybe Buck will pop in and give a little "what we did"

I too, have been looking at getting some land in Mexico so the advice would be Awesome.

Where are you seeing places for 100k?
I do not think you will find anything on the cost with an airport close for that. If you know of somewhere please let us know

    Going there in October

We were just in Cancun this past May. The Yucatan Peninsula is beautiful but it wasn't very gay-friendly.

Foriegners are not allowed to own title to anything they buy within a certain distance of the ocean...I think it is like 100 miles inland. You can still buy a house or condo, but you do not truly own it if that makes sense.

I think Stewart Title now handles closing and title insurance in Mexico. Make SURE you have your closing and title insured.

I am saying that as a lawyer -- take it as valuable legal advice.

my sis enjoys her beach front property in PV - she's gay too and meets up with many of you "easterners" during those nasty, cold months

we don't go down there - only TJ every once in a while

now that we're following the Chez Panise example of boycotting high class imported waters, there's nothing safe to drink accept for beers....

you gotta go to France to enjoy Evian I guess....
