Why does the adult industry seem to have such a good rep (in terms of making lots of money) but such a scummy rep (overall) in the mainstream world?

Just check your spam catcher to see the answer to that. We all get so much spam from so many differnet porn companies...almost all straight I might add, that the perception of the porn industry is that we just a bunch of scumbag spammers. Bill

In all fairness, i get very little 'adult' spam these days, i am however getting lots and lots of greeting card spam lately along with a lot of 'joke' spam.

I've been seeing a lot of greeting card spam as well. But what has struck me curious most as of late is an onslaught of ".pdf" attachments. Of course, I don't dare open them, but when did that start? And are they actual PDFs? Are PDFs now the new vehicle for viruses?
I've been getting those a lot too. I'm really curious what they are, but I just can't bring myself to open them.
I opened a pdf attachment - it totally fooled me. One came from a name I would normally trust, with a pdf (no worries there), but I'm happy to report that it was nothing scary.
Something about a sleazy, scammy stock trade.
I'm also getting the greeting cards - which is odd - but I haven't opened one of those.
I don't get as much adult porn as I used to do, but so much of came out for so long I think that is what hurt the adult industry reputation.
I also get a lot of greeting card spam, but I think the most spam I get is now for Cialis, mortgages and penny stocks.
I have gotten a couple of .pdf's and I just delete them all now.
