    banners. animated or static?

it's been awhile since i've looked around the various sites on the web

in terms of banners these days... what's happening?

any particular style of banner generating a seemingly better response?

    animated? static? flash?

    big or small?

    text?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

I think there is a place on everyones site for all three types.

Between placement, reason for us and what is being sold a good mix of animated and static is a must, flash should be used sparingly but used where a major impact needs to be made IMHO.

    Regards,

Creative banners have been catching my eye as of late.

Like this one pulled me in for some reason:

that may be interesting, but it doesn't say "click me" to me - it's more like an interesting piece of art.

Richard Craver - all of the above. different people and types of webpages have different style and size requirements.

It's pulled out of context to how it was used - no, the image itself doesn't state "click me" but how it was used ... Text above and below, you clearly knew it was a link as well as an artistic display of what's to come.

I generally get animated banners done and make sure I get the psd files so that I can also make static banners out of them.

ooh...just remembered, make sure you get blog-sized banners too! 160x320 is a good size for blog sidebars.
