TGP owners: open or closed submit lists?

if you run a TGP do you have an open submit or one just for partners? Open submits can get you a lot more variety, but are they worth the work to monitor these unknown gallery posters?

I've got a few sites I want to setup as tgp/mgp ... and I think initially I'll have it closed, and just fill the database with fhg links. Allowing submits just seems to be a major pain and time consumming ... both of which I have no room for right now!

Earlier this year I went about halfway through a list of TGP/MGP's. I was looking for TGP's to submit to. I'd say about 70% of them were private posts, not taking submission from anyone beside the owner. They were on the list to get traffic trades.

Closed is a lot easier to manage in terms of 'time'.

With open submissions you have to deal with cheaters and people who just dont bother reading the rules

As an honest webmaster who has submitted for 4 years now with no problems, it really pisses me off to see all these quality TGPs close all partner submitter accts and only allow FHGs. Won't that suck for the surfer seeing all these different TGPs/MGPs posting the same shitty FHGs from the same sponsors? Where's the variety now?
It almost makes me want to stop submitting and just open my own TGP now. I pay at around 10 TGPs to submit and don't mind it because I get decent traffic, but now I will just use their traffic for my own TGP and put the same bullshit FHGs to bore the surfers.

If I knew that TGPs actually make decent money, I would! I still don't know their potential.
I went to AWS to learn tgp submitting, never learned about TGP/MGP building. Any tips on how to start a thumb gay MGP?
I guess the first things I need are a template, gallery management script, and trading script?
Maybe if I hang on this board I can get some good trades going?

Well, a good way to test the waters is to try out the free version of Smart-thumbs. They'll initially take some skim, but if you find it profitable, you can purchase the license and keep all the traffic and traffic trades for yourself.

Pretty easy to import galleries, easy to set up
They'll take 1.5% of your traffic tho if you use the free version

If you know how to build sites setting up your own template shouldn't be so hard

Yeah I pretty much know how to do nothing. I will have somebody do the template for me and get smart thumbs and go from there. Any suggestions how to start pushing traffic to the tgp?
