Daily activities inside of a paysite?

Does anyone want to see day to day stuff inside of a paysite to make it more personal? Or do they just want to see cocks and fucking and get off?

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Paysite members just want to get off.

They dont care what else is inside a paysites members area as long as there is a shitload of 'hot' content.

I've always been openly gay. It would never occur to me to behave otherwise.

Some do just want to click and get off, but having features that make people want to check the site each day has helped to build our retention numbers. There is so much non-exclusive content out there that to keep members there has to be more then just stuff to get off to. That has to be the focus and it better be good stuff, but there has to be a hook or they may as well just hit rapid share or one of the gushing over with content blogs. Slash and burn or cultivate and build a culture. Two very different approaches but both can be successful financially.

True but, if you have to add 'features' in order to keep the member rebilling that means there is something wrong with your 'content' $0.02

The main reason a surfer joins a site is for the content they can find inside it, if the content inside the site (or the amount of content inside the site) isnt keep them rebilling, then add more, content will win every time over bells and whistles in ensuring members rebill.

Even on exclusive content sites, adding 'filler content' that isnt exclusive will have a substantial positive effect on retention.

    Lee

For our business model, it works best. We are building a brand not just a bunch of websites and the introduction of content which we did not create would be a huge mistake. Anybody can dump a bunch of content in a pile but if it is not better then the next guys, they are going to just move. In our niche we all pull from a limited pool of models so we each have to work hard to make our memberships valuable. The quality of our content is not the issue.

As to Dean's question, anything which makes your site more attractive to a member is worthwhile.

yes, people DO want to see stuff like blogs and boards, particularly on a site where the star or director actually responds to member posts. blogs are better for a smaller site imo - because if you don't get any comments, it doesn't stand out. a slow board is depressing *LOL*

Yeah, I had that other thread about the boards, which makes sense to me. I am working on a new site, and it was going to have a board, and for now, I think I will have a blog when it opens, then switch to a board later...

Back on the topics of boards, has anyone had luck with seeding the boards by giving people free passwords into the board to post on?

i wouldn't do it. i'd do a blog instead. that way, you are in control of when new stuff is announced. you could do 2 a week - one to announce the latest update and tell about it and another to tell what's new with you or about a shoot your're going to do or whatever. if people talk to you, great! if not, you can still keep things going and it won't look empty and lonely.

i see a lot of boards in member areas, dean, where no one posts. you can see the owner did exactly what you're talking about for a while, then gave up and the only posts are announcing updates - or there are no new posts at all.

and you can always have a blog AND a board if you get enough involved members

yes our members asked for more personal content. so I started a blog inside the site, where members can ask questions, we poll for relevant site configuration issues, things like that. I also post interviews with our models occasionally plus some filler content.
    It has helped.
