Animated or Static Buttons?

Which do you guys prefer more? I know that a good selection of both is best, but which ones work better and would you want to see more of?

It really depends what else i have on a page -- too much animation can be a real distraction and then your page doesn't get read at all! I tend to use animation on something I really want them to pay attention to.

i like getting animated buttons and getting the associated psd files so I have the ability to make static ones too.

If I had a choice, I would pick the static. I will pick an animated banner only if it's done with little or no CLICK ME - CLICK ME - CLICK ME flashing over and over and over.
