How Long Does It Take To Get A #1 Listing On A New Domain?

I wondered how long you folks think a reasonable amount of time was to get a #1 listing for a newly registered domain name in the major engines, Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL etc?

Do you think it is possible to say a time frame or does it depend on the type of content being used on the domain for the SE's?

    Regards,

    Lee

The fastest I had recently was 9 days ... though I spoke to Tom in Thailand and he said it wasn't showing in Thailand in position #1 (yet!)

That was for a common 'two keyword' search term with Yahoo & Google only.

you can get top listings quickly but many tend to be temporary in google.

It took us just over a year for or chosen keyword phrase... just happened this week.

We've been in the top 10 for the last 6 to 8 months except for about a week where we disappeared completely. Btw, the traffic isn't that much greater between 3rd and 1st, at least for us.

Yup i posted about that a year or two back, if you are on the first page, each listing down the page really only has about a 1-2% increase/decrease in traffic.

Once you hit page two however, the decrease in traffic is very noticable.
