How Often Do You Check Your Search Engine Rankings?

I was just curious to find out how often you folks checked where your sites are ranked in the search engines?

Do you check the SE's on a regular basis/schedule or just whenever you think about it?

I know i try to check my major sites at least once or twice a month.

Well, since I've made the experience that SE's are rather unreliable and useless unless you pay for their 'services', I've mostly stopped using them at all.

One of my sites used to be listed between rank 1 and 3, together with a 'competitors' site, when you searched for a top keyword which is included in both our sites name. Now both of our sites have vanished from the listing completely. While you could say that our sites were 'on topic' all you find now is dead links, dead sites or 'off topic' sites.

I didn't bother looking for other examples, but I bet there are thousands. This refers mostly to the so called 'top' SE which used to be a fine source for information but now has become just another source of delivering paid spam.

If I look for some good information with good links I go for wikipedia now. That doesn't help for porn, though. But I don't think you will find such reliable information on SE's anymore. That goes until wikipedia goes advertising, of course.
