Hosted Gallery / Free Site Question...

I wondered if the location of hosted promo tools made a difference to you in terms of whether you will use them or not?

For example, FHGs hosted on the same domain as the paysite they are promoting or on a totally seperate domain name all together?

I know as a program owner i love putting hosted promo tools on a seperate domain name to the one they are being used to promote because its a nice source of 'in-house' traffic when surfers start searching for a certain domain name, but i was wondering, are there any benefits to you folks as affiliates on keeping them on the same domain as the paysite, or on a different domain name all together?

Your thoughts, what method do you prefer or does it even matter?

It makes more sense to NOT have them under the same domain as your sponsor program for various reasons. On another server entirely is also a smart idea if you have that available.

I know I glance at an outbound link's url in the bottom window before clicking, so I'm sure a lot of surfers do that as well. If it shows the sponsor name, they may not be so quick to click on through, but if it's on some generic sounding "my free picture archive" com name or such, I'd think the click through would be better.

It is a slight advantage for me to be able to identify the sponsor site in the hosted gallery URL, but it can certainly be on a different domain name. This certainly is not a factor in whether or not I will use a hosted gallery.

i think it is good to have them on the paysite domain name

Rarely use them actually, but would prefer them on their own server/domain name than the paysite.

Own SERVER.

Hell, with a good amount of affiliates and a ton of free hosted video galleries you NEED your own server.

I see so many paysites get bogged down in system resources that it's crazy when they do that.
