How Do You Define A 'Reality Site'?

Im always amazed at the discussions i have with newer webmasters on ICQ but more than that, some people who have been in the industry as long as i have amaze me sometimes to.

I was just chatting to someone about reality sites and they said that these days pretty much every site using 'exclusive' content was a reality site to which i disagreed.

To me, just because a site has exclusive content on it, that doesnt make it a reality site at all.

So how do you folks define what a 'reality' site is in terms of content, layout, etc?

    Regards,

    Lee

a video site with non reality videos can still have a reality layout, which means there would be several tables per page, each featuring several sample pics and a description from each set.

reality content is done documentary style. these usually include street pickups of some kind and are treated as if the cameraman or producer is really finding their models on the street or in a certain location and takes us through the approach (hi. i'm looking for someone to do some modeling), the convicing (we pay big money and famous producers look at our work) and the action. one of the earliest such sites i was aware of is milfhunter.com and one of the earlier gay examples is cruise patrol but now there are plenty of them. topbucks has a good number of both gay and straight reality sites including his first big cock.

What is called a "reality" site is really a "Pseudo-reality" site.

The only actual reality site I can think of

    {warning, blantant self-promotion in 3,2,1}

is Fratpad which really is a bunch of guys living together and trying to find a way to entertain a chat room full of horny gay guys.

Reality TV is where a bunch of people expose parts of their real life and mix it in with a bit of underhanded back stabbing to win a prize. I think, on the buss .com was a reality site with gay guys heading out to burning man.

In porn, These days, you define it by the tour I guess as it's now a layout term and not a content type.

Dude Dorm and the like are cam houses yes, but a cam house is about as close to a reality site as you can get. Minus the weekly games for head of house and kicking people out as the weeks go on.

    meh... kind of, I guess.

But it's really more than just a cam house. We call it a "Live and Interactive Nude Reality Show" because that's what it is.

It's like "Real World" with the guys living their lives in front of you. It's not just jack off shows all day and night. It's more of a Soap Opera with naked guys than anything else.

I think a reality site has a story to tell. It's not just people getting naked and having sex, there's some real-life scenario.

For instance, Bait Bus, where supposed straight guys were teased into a bus by a big-titted woman. The guys were blind-folded and duped into having sex with a guy.

I just saw another last night, www.bangthechamp.com, where guys do ultimate fighting style sessions. After they beat the crap out of one another the winner gets to bang the girl who holds up the round numbers.

Broke Straight Guys is a reality site, as is College Boy Physicals. Brazil Bus is another one where a bus drives around and picks guys up off the street and they have sex in a bus. Gay Hitchhiker and a whole host of Topbucks sites, as basschick already mentioned. And I think the 50-man orgy Russian site could be argued as a reality site.

Sean Cody, Corbin Fisher, Randy Blue, UK Naked Men, Blake Mason, English Lads are not reality sites, they're just sites where guys are getting naked and having sex.

Exclusive content alone does not make a reality site. As I said, I think there needs to be some common thread or theme that ties all of the scenes together, i.e. guys picking up guys in washrooms and getting arrested and fucked by the cop.

I agree that a lot of people throw the word reality around when they shouldn't. In fact, I'd argue that anything that is staged isn't really a reality site, but then again, reality television itself is all staged, so there you go.

i don't think Broke Straight Guys is a reality site. they don't show the ad or explain the scenario - and a scenario is what makes a reality site, as well as pretending to be really happening (or actually really happening).

    we are "mixed reality"

Tony&Cam are REAL and we really shoot our content Gonzo style so I guess that means we could be considered a reality site...

I mean, we're not some FAKE brand with someone's name - we are REAL MEN who fuck bareback

your site is not done in a reality style, and although a couple of your newest videos approach reality, you need a little more set up to be reality content.

being real does not a reality site make

you already know that we don't follow any rules - we live by our own methods - I'm still learning and didn't really know that there are strict standards about these things

so maybe we're creating a "new" category that we can name the Tony&Cam style - real men, real situations, really shot and directed by us and produced and edited by us

I always say "fuck the set up and get to the fucking" cause in my opinion, people tune into barebackMasters to watch people fuck, not talk - besides Patti, its not polite for people to talk with their mouths full... (your suppose to laugh!)

    Um.. No

That would make you a gonzo site, you cant have it both ways LOL

It really does appear that a lot of people dont understand the basics of websites they are promoting though, not so much here but across the industry as a whole, kind of makes you wonder.

when we entered the Adult Industry Lee, people told us that we could never appear in more than one scene - we were hired and shot more than twenty for other producers - (we've now appeared in over 50 videos)

we were also told that we were "too old to appear in more than a few" - ok, let's not answer that one

and when we started shooting our own videos, people told us that we HAD to create dvd's with at least 4 scenes, no more than 15-20 minutes each and two people minimum each - we never shot that way and always released dvd's with 3 BIG scenes and lots of people mixed up

we were also told that we could not produce bareback videos -

obviously, we do what we want - that's why we are different and very successful breaking ground and ruffling the feathers of our competition

when we created our first member site, we "broke the rules" again and among other things, offered large videos at much higher rez than our competition and vastly larger and more vivid hi-rez photos - once again breaking away from "standard" - oh yeah, hi rez photos - what's that to the average bareback site (non existant)

I see no reason why we should follow rules that don't really exist... neçt pas my young friend?

Because these 'rules' do exist, as several people above mentioned, a reality site is something different to two older guys fucking each other bareback or do you have a storyline, plot, episodes, etc?

because just as you cannot call yourself a twink because it has a meaning that doesn't apply to you, your site is not a reality site because that is a defined type of site.

funny thing is most people in straight understand what a reality site is, yet most people in gay do not.
