How Quickly Do You Renew Domains?

Once your domain name registrar starts sending you out reminders about the domain coming up for renewal, how soon (or late) do you leave it before actually renewing the domain name in question?

Are you like me and renew within the first few days of the reminders or do you wait a while before renewing?

    Regards,

    Lee

I put them all on automatic renewal, and if I see a reminder about one I want to cancel, I go in and cancel it. Auto renewal is the way to go.

I am pretty much late about renewing every time. I don't renew until it is dropping and I notice that the domain isn't working anymore *sigh*

You do realize you are opening yourself up to having someone snap up your domain and then re-selling it to you?? Auto renew my dear

Not until 60-90 days has past on the expiration date though depending on the registrar.

yes, but someone who does not renew before the expiration date may also miss the next deadline too.

    Actually,

According to ICANN rules it's a total of 70 days until a domain goes into lock (where it's open for registration), which lasts another 5 days.

Registars are suppose to give you 40 days after expiration date to register at the regular rate, then another 30 to register during redemption at a higher rate, then another 5 days to join us domain snatchers and start bidding on your own domain.

This may seem weird, but I registered a domain in 99, let the damn thing expire by mistake, and last year finally got it back by using enom.

usually I renew them about one month before expiration. Sometimes two months.
