You are holding a still image against two concepts. One being your membership content and the other being your layout design that showcases your member's area.
I think, as a whole, there will always be a need/use for still images in a design. (not that they are required as I have seen some text based tours)
And in a members area, The MASS of your traffic may be looking for Video only but it's not to say, All surfers are looking for just video.
I still go to a gallery before a theater when inside a paysite. And with the estimated numbers of people online... I know I'm not the only one.
even if you accept picture content as worthless - and i don't, although in many sites i consider it the lower value content - tours will still use vidcaps as samples. it's an easy way to get more info about each movie across so that the vidcaps supplement the trailers and more of the action or scenario can be shown.

we have members who tell us they join JUST for our still pics and dont' care about the video.
Go figure.

lots of posters on gfy arent using pics any more because they said they dont covnert well enough compared to movies
