    Greeting card spam

What's up with this shit?! I get hundreds every day and I'm fucking sick of it! And what's in the .pdf in these emails. I'm afraid to open them because I don't know if viruses can be passed in .pdf format.

The pdf's are usually prescription drug ads or penny stock adds.

The really evil spams have a link to click on and infect your computer!!!

marcjacob has the right idea -- delete right away.

I got one that said I had a card from a "Worshipper"

for fucks sakes! I am an atheist~

Spend the bucks and get Secure Tide spam protection from Appriver (Stupid name that sounds like a detergent, but it does work.)

Not cheap at $20/month, but the time I save by not having to sort through and delete this sort of crap is well worth it, and I haven't found anything remotely comparable to their service. Prior to Appriver, we got as many as 500-600 spams a day. Now maybe 3 or 4 at the most... and when I email them, they immediately update the filter and that's the last of them I see.

Best of all, no BS whitelisting or asking customers to "click here to whitelist yourself" and I think I've had one false positive in all the 3 or 4 years we've used them.

I was able to filter them out with a rule that said all email with "you have received a" in the subject get deleted, but now they went and changed it so they are no longer getting caught.

And that pdf spam is horrible, it used to only take a few seconds to download my morning email and now its taking like 5 minutes thanks to those pdf attachments adding extra weight to emails.

I really don't want to move to one of those whitelist services. Thanks for the tip on the detergent one, Chip, I will check that one out.

I read that Spam now accounts for 95% of all email sent and that it threatens to bring the internet to it's knees.

We really need to start pressuring our representatives to do something about it.

I advocate long jail sentences for spammers. Send them all to hell.

But if this was PORN spam, whoever is sending it would already be behind bars awaiting trial!!

I wish I could remember where I read it but I can't... But it said that the guy that they did arrest and is now in jail with no access to his eqiupment was the guy that 'set up' the latest series of ecard spam and it was on a schedual to go online.

If that is true ... who knows how much more damage he can do during the time he is in jail with maybe even more campaigns on the way.

The ones I feel kinda sorry for are the legit greeting cards guys that have basically lost their businesses overnight coz who the hell would still send a card?????

    Oh, I don't.

    Fuck em.

Those companies are just there to collect email addresses anyway. They're the reason that a lot of spam is out there to begin with.

And how fucking cheap do you have to be to send an "e-card" anyway?

Spend the 2 bucks and send me a real card, fucker.
