How Big Can the Gay Biz Become?

When I first joined the gay biz 5 years ago it was about about 1/5 of the size it is now. I've really noticed that this year there seems to have been an incredible influx of new paysites being offered within new gay owned and operated programs, as well as a proliferation of new gay sites being offered by the traditionally straight programs.

How big can the gay biz can become?

I'm starting to wonder whether there will be a rationalization and shake out in the gay biz like there was in the straight biz about the time that I started 5 years ago.

What's everyones thoughts?

Well I'm sure it hasn't reached its peak yet. But there is only a limited number of gay people out there and most of them will have internet connection today.

Those who don't have internet won't be able to buy porn in near future so they won't support the growth.

I think the biz will become much more professionell as the straight buiss is. I was shocked how bad some sponsor webmaster panels are, about the lack of good quality FHGs, lack of descriptions for FHGs, limited possibilities to promote programs and so on.

I think that will change longterm but there's no space of thousand of new programs if the old ones will survive, too.

I predict two things to happen, given that the number of potential customers is finite.

-New billing options will enable foreign users to buy products that were previously unavailable to them. Also, the devalued dollar will make everything from the US more affordable.

-Smaller producers will merge, larger companies will squash competition, and users will demand higher technical quality that only a big company could provide. Plus, the government would prefer to only deal with a handful of professional producers rather than a lot of little underground independants. The market will be ruled by a handful of big companies.

Well I doubt that as there will always be webmasters looking for unique content and small paysites which is not overpromoted.

Quality will increase for sure but the medium big companies will be able to survive I guess.

what lavendarlounge said sounds sound , i'm hopeful that the adult industry is not ruled by big wheels which turn very slowly when it comes to fresh ideas. ( interpeted: i stopped buying ***** sometime ago , it just became too painful to watch , ocassionaly i'll review one of their most recent but no matter what director they use , storylines are non-existent , models are mix-matched , the only thing which has improved is the photography but now it's "too close" especially when it comes to some of the older models. if this is "the best" then it's time to go straight! )
either way i will still do my part to ensure that small buisness has a voice. ( interpreted: i am most thankful for the 7 accounts i have and will take you as far as my creative energies will last. :idea:

I have a different view. At least one of our larger competitors is not doing well because he's not the only game in town any more. I'm guessing his overhead is way too high for these days.

On the other hand, our niche site is a shoestring operation. One guy shooting and editing content (me), one guy marketing and running the site. Plus a part time webmaster. Because we are efficient we are doing well, in fact growing.

Certainly larger companies will thrive. We can't possibly match the resources and hence the production values of say, Titan. I'm sure they and others like them will do very well, as long as they are a well run business.

But I think there will always be a place for new producers if they are in niches and they are efficient.
